Re: Coronavirus outbreak

Coding conventions and under-reporting, whether politically driven or not are rife. With the rise of authoritarian regimes and their use of 'fake news' and undermining legitimate institutions, it's going to get harder to find robust information. Modelling based on quality assumptions is probably as...

Re: Coronavirus outbreak

Its now about capacity and whether the health system can cope with the influx of these patients on top of the 'normal' caseload. The models I've seen suggest ours won't and that's when you get big rises in morbidity and mortality, not just from those infected. The Netherlands numbers look worrying n...

Re: Coronavirus outbreak

Assuming you are under 50 and don't have an elderly relative you might transmit it to, Or have asthma or another chronic condition, Or a BMI over 40, If you need hospital care from next week onwards, it will be sub optimal as the system gets overwhelmed by respiratory cases, Don't wait to practice s...

Re: Coronavirus outbreak

The issue is more than just the specific mortality rate of the virus. When the number of cases overwhelms the health system and it cannot cope, mortality from everything else goes up. So if you are under 50 and have something that ordinarily would be managed by a hospital, chances are the management...

Re: Footballing philosophy

Ok, that was interesting. No passing out from the back. Trying to play long and with more urgency. Actually his BBCRB post match assessment was pretty much what I witnessed, so credit for not BSing what actually happened Also paraphrased Napoleaon vis Graham Taylor, "better to be a lucky manage...

Re: Footballing philosophy

Get the ball forward as quickly as possible but logically, whilst retaining structure and balance throughout the team. Scrap tippy tappy pass round the back nonsense, you can't score doing that. Make sure each pass is played with a purpose and not for the sake of passing Press and harry the other t...

Footballing philosophy

Does anyone know what Bowen's footballing principles are? He used the word 'pragmatic' in one of the (pretty poor actually) interviews on social media, as well as intensity and enthusiasm. Am I reading too much into this and thinking we will be more direct? I'd be interested in any thoughts on what ...

Re: GOMES OUT!

You live and die by your results and ultimately ours have been poor. More than that, the tactical naivety of the last few games did it for me. A good talker and a handsome charmer, but as in business, those types tend to come unstuck if there's no substance... We have the squad, now we need a high i...
