Re: another, thants right another embargo for late PAYE payments - a new embargo

The difficulty in transferring money out of China is mentioned in the BBC article and is almost certainly a contributory factor to our woes. EPK's point is valid, though: knowing that this difficulty exists isn't going to change the fact that transfer embargoes and points deductions will continue to...

Re: another, thants right another embargo for late PAYE payments - a new embargo

Presumably this relates to the PAYE tax on salaries payable at the end of June. I have never worked in a finance department, so I don't know how it works. My guess is that if someone's salary is £50k per month and you have to transfer that sum from an offshore account, you would transfer £50k and th...

Doesn't really add anything to what we already know, but a decent summary for those unaware of our plight.

Re: Season Tickets 23/24

I renewed by phone yesterday around 3pm. I immediately found myself in queue position 1, where I stayed for a couple of minutes, then got through.

Re: Relegation Run Ins

Apologies if this has been said already, but another way of looking at it is that, over the final three games, we just need to pick up one more point than QPR.

Re: Ince out!

It's a bloody tough gig, but Hunt is nobody's fool - if he can get any kind of a result against Burnley, we'll bring the house down. Though your daughters will not have to be locked up, you’ll be wondering if the wheels are coming down. You will be able to feel the noise! And if you can't, you'll b...

Luton's relegation from League 2 was the result of an eye watering 30 point deduction, of course.

Re: Attendance

I have renewed my ST but I wasn't there on Saturday and won't be there tomorrow. Simple fact is that I am visiting my 88 year old Mum next weekend and am not taking the chance that I'll pass Covid on to her. I am planning to be back for the QPR game.

Re: STs 2021/22

My C1871 ST, which I ordered and paid for in June, arrived today, accompanied by a letter stating the club's delight at delivering my 150th anniversary commemorative pack. I suppose I should be grateful that I actually got a ST with my own name on it, cos there was nothing else in the envelope.

Because they're playing away? It’s used to be that you could wear your home colours if there was no kit clash They're probably contractually obliged to wear their away kit a certain number of times a year to help sales. I'm not sure there's ever been a rule as such, but for the last decade or so, m...

Re: The best game you've ever seen?

Here's three that popped straight into my head... Surprised no-one has mentioned Newport County 0, Reading 2 - this was the game that set a new record of a 12 match 100% record (beaten the following week with a win at Lincoln). I was in the away end behind the goal. At full time I was impressed at h...

Re: If you didn't support Reading, who would you have supported and why?

Started watching Reading regularly in 1974. In those early days when Reading were away I occasionally tried watching Aldershot or Wokingham. Soon got that out of my system! When I moved out of the area I watched Yeovil and Bristol City a few times but invariably found myself wanting them to lose. I ...

Incidentally Bill is also a comedy writer and a bit of a musician/singer and his career goes back to the mid 60s with various TV and radio shows. Quite so, Sutekh. Bill's version of "On Ilkla Moor Baht'at" (done in the style of Joe Cocker / With A Little Help From My Friends) is worth a l...

Re: STs for season 2019/2020

Friend of my son's is a West Ham STH. He reckons he's been asked to pay full price for a ST and will be given a pro-rata refund for each game he can't get to because of social distancing - but the refund is by way of vouchers to spend in the club shop! He's not the sort to wear replica shirts or cl...

Apparently the first month of next season (at least) is going to be behind closed doors https://www.readingchronicle.co.uk/sport/18589653.boris-johnson-makes-announcement-fans-can-return-stadiums/ That would put clubs in a difficult situation as to when to put next seasons STs on sale. Re: Rival Watch

Good question, Sutekh. Would they really want their grand opening to be behind closed doors, even if it was ready? When are the bulldozers due to move in to Griffin Park? They'll need to have some test events before they can host a proper match, even if it's limited capacity. Both Forest's and Brent...
