Maybe the big party day in May they should play Mouldy Ol dough, Earles a Winger, Sing for the Royyaallss la la la la la , Lux Aerterna, Embraces Ashes, etc on the tannoy pre-match?....I’d draw the...

The Royal Forester
SWLR The picture of the pitch being laid reminds me of the time our groundsman put down weedkiller rather than feed pre-season, trying to recall when that was.. 1980's? Was it Neat?

I am sure it was Gordon Neate, but I think it was at the Mad Stad,

It was summer of 1986.

Re: 150 years in pictures

Found the ground shot below from around 1973, note the official capacity of EP then! John Hulme was a central defender who arrived from Bolton in 1972 and returned “oop north”, to Bury, after just a couple of seasons, John sadly passed away in 2008 aged just 63. https://i.pinimg.com/originals/22/29...

Re: 150 Lager beer

As we're on the price of beer, did the prices charged last night at the SCL reflect the budget cut in the price of beer - should have gone down 3p, I think?

I'm guessing no.

Re: 2019/2020 accounts analsyis - from STAR

QPR, Bmth, Villa, poss Wolves, all spent big and possibly got away with it. Fines apply when they come back to EFL but somehow get reduced.

Not advocating we do this because we’re SH it at transfers.

Tell me about Clarke, please. Hadn't noticed him coming up the ranks. He created one moment of danger last night, which was one more than poor Puscas did.

Re: Green park station/south Reading station

Went through it on Saturday on the train from Basingstoke and it is indeed taking shape. Will hopefully be a really good option for match days and take some pressure off the roads. I will have to work out the cost/time benefit compared with getting off the train at Reading and getting the bus v get...

Re: Al Jazeera Bombshell about Reading FC?

Will it be available on catchup or youtube anywhere? Yes, via YouTube. I think it goes live there at about 5pm, with a slightly longer version as they're not time-limited in that format. Watched the programme last night. Any more RFC content in the longer version? I'll take the silence on this as a...

Re: Opposition fans back from the game

Reflections on the game having watched from stands. What a game their No.10 had, ran the midfield, made himself available all the time. Allen could keep track of him. He scored their first after shamble defending, took the corner for their second. When he went off ten minutes to go, we scored. Not ...

SNOWFLAKE WROTE If you're giving them a professional appearance it should be because they are good enough to play. --- i'd disagree - you're playing them IN ORDER TO SEE if they're good enough. It's an audition, not a seal of approval. Roughly a third of the players who have ever played for Reading ...

Re: Fate?

More footy pedantry: Reading got relegated in 70/71 on goal average . Goal difference was not introduced to the Football League until 1975. Not checked but I'd imagine we'd still have been relegated on goal diff....we took some heavy beatings that season Yes, would not have made a difference. Conce...

Wikipedia I know but this doesn't list us as having had to apply for re-election: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Re-election_(Football_League)#Third_Division_North_and_South It's correct. It was only ever the bottom two in each of Div 3 S and Div 3 N. When Div 4 came about in 1958-9 it was then the ...

Re: Fate?

We’ve never had to apply for re-election. It was only the bottom two in Div 3S who needed to. The bottom 3 had to reapply which in 1921 was Reading, Brentford and Gillingham. The re-election process started in 1890 and until 1894 the bottom 4 clubs had to reapply. Between 1895 and 1921 it was the b...

1920-21 our 50th anniversary we finished 3rd from bottom of division 3 South and I believe this was the only time the club has had to appeal for re election, fortunately in those days it was bit of a closed shop so the bottom 3 survived. 1970-71 season our 100th anniversary we were relegated from t...

Derby, Huddersfield, Brum, Cov, one of the promoted clubs.

Any other obvious candidates.?

Doncaster 1947 W33 D6 L3 - that’s 105 points on 3 points for a win basis from just 42 games. FWIW.

Didn’t Obita have 2 major injuries over the 2 years? It wasn’t just ACL, was it? He came back from a relatively minor injury which meant he missed the first couple of months of the 17/18 season. I think it was his first game back v Hull. Remember it well. It was the final minutes of the game and he...

I think it was Miss America who took him away. Big miss for us.

Signed from Luton? Decent, slick, skilful striker, quite strong. Struggling for a comparison here, maybe a cross between Forster and Doyle. Or Vydra on a good day.
