Re: Rival Watch

Man United finding it quite easy against Forest in first half tonight. I fear for our lads on Saturday evening against one of the strongest outfits from Lancashire.

Re: Reading FC Womens World

Hound Nice to see the attendance. Could have done with the point though

Pictures in the Guardian don't show a single fan! And the report calls it Madejski Stadium throughout.

Which stands were open for this?

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

The Cube This is probably the right thread to record that a Reading team lost 4-2 to West Ham Under-21s on Friday at Bearwood. Seems an odd day to have chosen.

Team included Jahmari Clarke, Liam Moore and Nahum Melvin-Lambert.

Anyone got the full Reading line up for this game please?

Re: Midweek Away Record

Using Sutekh’s numbers I calculate 335 points from 235 matches in ‘daylight’ and 109 points from 122 matches under floodlight. This gives 1.43 ppg or a 66 point season (46 games) in daylight which equates roughly to 10th position and 0.89 ppg or a 41 point season which equates to relegation, probabl...

Re: What team is most similar to Reading FC

100 years ago it would have been Swindon. Probably will be in 10 years time! Similar geography, crowd sizes, honours, motorway. Haven’t played them competitively for 20 years - must be the longest stretch that’s never happened. For today, I’d say Huddersfield, Preston and Watford, who are getting aw...

Re: Midweek Away Record

Bit more digging on this and basically since the start of season 2015/2016 Reading have played 109 midweek league fixtures and are averaging approx 0.89ppg. As you’d expect therefore, both home and away form is pretty useless though the team is actually harder to beat when playing away than at home...

Re: Another odd record for Reading?

Bit like our FA Cup record. We do hold the record as having lost more FA cup games than any other league team, even if you add back Notts C from tier 5, as I believe they've won it once or twice. I don't think they entered as early as we did either. I don't think any professional club has. Notts C ...

Re: Another odd record for Reading?

A thought occurred to me, don’t know if it’s something anyone else has noted anywhere: Reading were founded in 1871 Reading reached the top flight for the first time in 2006 A wait of 135 years, has any other club taken as long to reach the top flight? As there wasn’t a top flight until 1888 I’d ca...

Re: Reading 1992-94 Red & Yellow Shirt

I love it - best away kit ever. Only worn about 4 times (1993-94 video check). Haven't got one.

The yellow and blue hoops one was daft - not the best change strip when you wear white and blue hoops!

Re: Rival Watch

QPR Blackpool, very high tempo physical game with some decent football thrown in. I’m beginning to fear for us. QPR display in the first half would have torn us to shreds. Pressing, energy, speed. Chair and Dikes for them, Yates and Bowler for POOL better than what we’ve got unless we can get Joao a...

He's played 5 at the back through pre-season and now it's 4?!

That is a weaker team than I was expecting.

Nameless
Hound Maybe the club just preparing 1 big announcement with the away kit, squad numbers, NGW, Loum, Hutchinson, Sarr and Drinkwater all in one post

They could roll in Ince’s sacking, Cat 1 reinstatement and appointment of Bowen as manager as well....

Don’t forget the move to Scours Lane.

Re: Pre-season games 2022/2023

Bit dispiriting overall. Obvs acknowledge where BHA are now but it grates that we were in the same promotion race as then just five years ago. They’ve spent a fortune but done it well. But just three attacks of note for us, four if you include the suicidal penalty, all second half. I worry where the...

If Holmes’ nickname in the dressing room isn’t the professor or prof, then quite frankly what’s the point of anything?

Re: Pre-season games 2022/2023

Stranded Benfica game will be shown live for free on Royals TV tomorrow afternoon.

It’s 4pm KO. I’m signed into my Royals account but I can’t find it under Royals TV. I did see somewhere “we hope to bring you coverage “ which didn’t fill me with confidence.

Advice welcome on how to tune in.
