I dunno. I think we're worth a judas bet.

If I were the gambling type.

Which I'm not.

Re: Rumour - Rafael van der Vaart

It wasn't meant as a criticism of him but more our record of signing "name" players coming to the end of their careers on big money - it nearly always ends in disappointment and recriminations.

Re: Rumour - Rafael van der Vaart

For the purposes of a comparison with how I think RDV will fare with us I think it's valid.
If you compare RDV's previous season with Bridge's season at Brighton, then it's definitely RDV that's being flattered.

Re: Rumour - Rafael van der Vaart

Can't see the point in this, I'm afraid.
Why take on a player who'd end up being one of our highest paid players and probably not play because he's not fit?
This does sound very much like a Wayne Bridge mk2 signing (if it happens) to me.

Re: BFTG - Wimbledon away (pre-season friendly)

Do you see a 20 goal a season striker? Can you even see any of our strikers getting in to double figures? Do we have a striker that has got into double figures for any club in the last 2 seasons? Only once in the last ten seasons has one of our strikers scored 20 league goals in a season. Not even ...

Charles Watts seems to think there's something to this:

Can I be the first with the reacharound gag?

Er,
Adam Reach(around)

Good. Thanks, I feel better for that.

Re: What are your expectations for this season? (with poll)

I reckon we'll start slowly as the new signings take a little while to settle in. They'll hit their stride in September and we'll start to look a decent side. The wheels tho, will start to come off sometime around the beginning of November after a bit of an away pasting. By January we'll be properly...

Re: Next England Manager

Those clamouring for Hoddle to return have clearly not been watching ITV's coverage of the Euros. His co-commentary has been utterly abysmal.

And, as for Big Sam:

Re: Euro 2016 Thread

Lets be honest though it's been a shit tournament. When a team who finished 3rd in their group, not winning a game and only won once in 90 minutes end up winning the whole thing....says it all really. Too much negative football played by everyone - i can't really remember a truly "great" ...

Re: Euro 2016 Thread

Kanu was getting rave reviews in the first half on French tv. He did a couple of good turns and a decent cross. Second half he faded and was subbed. Gunter no worse than the rest of the team, seemed reasonable to me. But not good enough on the night Yep 'greed. Gunter no worse than any of his team ...

Personally I couldn't give a toss. I don't wish him ill at all, in fact I'll be as pleased as I am watching Gylfi if Hal proves a success elsewhere and I won't give it a second thought if he isn't.

Whatever happened to those cards that you were going to be able to pre-load with cash which could then be used to buy shit in the concourse?

Re: Euro 2016 Thread

Yeah I thought Belgium were like England - particularly in the Wales match: play very well for periods, look like they could score a hatful but then when placed under pressure, start to look very brittle with no players looking to take a lead or knowing what the plan is supposed to be.

Yep, sounds as if he's as good as gone. Decent money I suppose but it won't get spent on replacements (who are as good).

Re: And now Gunter...

I would be quite sorry (but not heartbroken) to see him go. He's by no means the worst player at the club and not the (sole) reason for our struggles over the last few seasons. He's been with us a while now and multiple managers haven't tried to replace him in that time plus, as a consequence, he's ...

Re: Euro 2016 Thread

Interesting stuff in The Grauniad... No other country in Euro 2016 stops its officials staying in the same hotel and forbids them from eating with the players because the coaching staff prefer it that way. No team bar England has a set of players who are given their lines, like homework, before inte...
