Re: The Great, Big Royal International Thread

Snowball Couldn't help noting how miserable Puscas looked AFTER scoring his goal

Probably still feels guilty for getting the manager that spent £x million on him sacked

Re: Euro 2020

Ireland are an appalling team. It will be no loss if they fail to qualify. It was a typical Mick McCarthy game though. He'll more than likely pick up scrappy away points but you have to question at what cost do you scrap entertainment for it? O’Neill was even worse. Football that belongs in the dar...

Re: Manager v luck etc

Seriously, we get all so wound up about managers, stats, records etc etc. When you think about it most managers have good spells and shit spells, often with the same club. Even the Special (needs) One. That's why our history shows that when we just pick total randomers with no managerial experience...

Re: Ex Players

McShane getting very good reviews from Rochdale fans, it's good to see him back. One of my favourite players we've had in the last five years or so

Re: England - the future....

I do rate Declan Rice but England may be a step up too high for him. He’s better at regaining possession and doing a simple pass. Not really needed in an England team to be fair Sorry but what? It really is needed. I think winning Euro 2020 or WC 2022 would be hard in any circumstances given there ...

Re: Manager v luck etc

Once we've got that out of the way, there's enough data out there to be able to estimate the contributions of skill and of luck to football matches. I think I've got a decent book that goes into it, explains how it comes to the answer. Give me a day. Well, luck of course plays a part, there’s no de...

Re: England - the future....

Southgate was a breath of fresh air at first, but old habits creeping back into the England set up. Players picked based upon past performance and reputation. But it's over a year since 2018; we must continue being ruthless. Trippier, Rose, Rice and Keane should not be in the team. Shame Maddison w...

Re: England - the future....

Not watched it but from the BBC report “England lacking in ideas”. It’s like saying water is wet when we play against any sort of decent team (and that’s a stretch for Czech Republic) It’s an absolute disgrace that the top scorer in the Premier League cannot play. It’s exactly why I do not watch En...

We were lucky under Stam..... I do wonder if you've ever seen us play live at times Urzzz. It’s just such a lazy comment. I’d expect it from someone like you to be fair judging by your usual opinions, but it’s so untrue. If you think luck can accumulate 85 points, then you need to start watching an...

Re: Manager v luck etc

FTR we weren’t lucky under Stam. It’s a nonsense comment. We had luck on a few games but people who attribute our 3rd place finish primarily to just luck have no idea We were lucky under Stam..... Re: Manager v luck etc

Luck can not explain a teams fortune/misfortune over a season. Perhaps over certain games in a season, but certainly not through the entire season Success is primarily based on hard work, structure and balance and ability. Luck does come into it, but it’s not an overriding factor Take Liverpool. The...

Re: Euro 2020

Old Man Andrews Very satisfying to see Steve Clarke failing. Scotland are a pile of oxf*rd.

Surprised he’s doing as bad as he is in all honesty. He’s an arse but a relatively good manager. I know it’s Scotland and all that but expected them to improve with him in charge
