Re: Rumour - Umaro Embalo and Goncalo Borges

Just talk to generate interest. I’d expect him to move permanently to another PL team. Still football is a funny old game (but very probably not quite funny enough for Reading to be able to land him).

Re: The Non - League thread

Going to be a very long season for Maidenhead at this rate. Not a surprise really, done well to survive for as long as they have. Presumably still the only part time side in the National League and only survived last season on ppg (though if their home form hadn’t have been quite so wretched they w...

Re: Veljko Paunović - Whelmgauge

I’ve only just looked at the next 7. Wycombe, Rotherham, Coventry we need to be picking up max points. Then a few points from Boro, Blackburn, Preston & Stoke should see us in a strong position prior to the crazy Xmas run of fixtures. 29th November to 29th Dec, nine fixtures! Should prove very ...

The good side of football and footballers

Instead of footballers being arrested and clubs going into crisis and players taking whacking great salaries for, seemingly, not much return, let’s have a positive thread celebrating the good that clubs and players do/have done in the world. I’ll start with Mo Salah showing what a great human being ...

Re: Season 20/21

Have we ever had a home game after the international breaks? I seem to recall it's always a long trip like Middlesborough every time. Three games after the international break last season, yes one was Middlesbrough (a) Other two were a trip to Brentford and a home game with Preston The...

Re: Sone Aluko

My fondest memory of Hughes was scoring a belter from 40yds at Molyneux although I also remember a game at Grimsby where he and Forster ran their defence ragged and Alan Pouton scored an own goal from half way line. We played some good stuff under Pardew. I was at that Grimsby game, ball looped up ...

Re: Rumour: Joel Latibeaudiere

According to the latest bits I’ve seen it’s between Reading and Norwich with interest from Championship clubs have apparently dropped away. However Norwich have denied they’re in talks and their local paper mentions Farke’s interest in Arsenal’s William Saliba as well as the possibility of Norwich l...

Re: Rumour - Tomás Esteves

Traditional full back may have been "simple" but the role is much more complex these days. There us a much greater expectation that the player can attack and defend almost equally well, timing and decision making massively important, get it wrong and the whole defensive shape is Fubared. ...

Eddie's latest Tweet on this: Omri Luzon has told me that he visited the training ground today, where he had a COVID test, he hopes to sign when the result comes back. The new training ground wows players, and is a massive pull factor. He says he’s signing for the u23’s with a view of progression I...

Re: The Non - League thread

Great 2-1 win for Bracknell at Chertsey last night in front of 400. Late winner from Dan Bayliss pushes the Robins up to second. Yeah was a fine win! Could defintiely go up this season which will mean finding a new stadium to play in. Wondering if Slough will be an option until they sort a new grou...

Re: England - the future....

Am I the only one who hates international breaks ? As far as I am concerned it’s just an irritating interruption to the real thing:namely Championship football. No, I don’t like them either as usually it’s pointless “friendly” games being played. Even the Euro and World Cup qualification groups the...

SCIAG You’re only just wrong - most he scored for us in one season was 9.

And if anyone was wondering, Andy Hughes is now a first team coach at Sheff Wed after managing Sheff U’s u23s last season.

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

A good news story this evening. Dejan Tetek has said in an interview that Veljko Paunović contacted the Serbia FA about him and he then began the switch of changing from England to Serbia. With his debut for us last weekend and now on a training camp with the Serbia U19’s - what a week it’s been fo...

Re: Marc McNulty arrested for match fixing

I think it’s unfortunate for McNulty but also not convinced he’s good enough. However...we’ve barely played him, and rarely played him when he was just signed, which was odd. The mistake the club made was signing both him & Baldock in the same window...why sign 2 small strikers? And then spend ...

Re: Rumour - Tomás Esteves

Having said all that, if Esteves is ready he should come straight in. Not only is he specialist FB but he's also very highly-rated. May well be lacking match fitness. Also needs to settle in. Well he's playing for his country this week And so not likely to meet his new team mates until next Wed/Thu.
