Smart certainly, but I'd prefer us in thicker hoops and blue shorts.

Re: Pre-season 2014

A reasonable fixture list there.

Will probably do Exeter to tick another ground off. Have been to all the other grounds, but might still get to a couple of games.

Re: It's a generational thing

I'm 4th generation. Great grandfather started going when we joined the football league in 1920. Grandpa (living in Caversham) started going pre-war, about 1930ish from memory. Dad's first game in 1950 My first game in October 1990 (a 2-1 defeat at home to Leyton Orient where I was mascot, coincident...

Re: New kits 2014/2015

How many different kits have been combined to produce it?

I count 10, although not sure if the sleeve of this season matches the chest with the FA Cup logo on it.

Re: On Penalties

I also think we're guilty of praising "bad" penalties. Too often you see penalties scored where the ball is about a third of the way between the centre of the goal and the post. In my opinion, these are bad penalties. Yes they go in, but if the keeper goes the right way (the variable that ...

Ian Royal I am going to be bloody furious if Saggy Harry lasts the season and gets QPR in the top 6. Let alone promotion.

Fingers crossed for you Ian...

Re: European Leagues Thread 2012/2013

I saw a picture of that "goal" on Facebook. It was as far over the line as Mendes's "goal" for Spurs that Carroll fumbled!

Re: European Leagues Thread 2012/2013

The shame of it is, as soon as one of the other clubs wins the league (like Atleti this year) they will instantly get the side ripped apart and so have a very reduced chance of maitaining a title challenge the next season.

Re: European Leagues Thread 2012/2013

USA_Loyal_Royal just looked it up, last time a team besides barcelona or real won the league was 03-04.

Back in the days when Valencia were very good under Benitez (pre-Liverpool).

It's Atleti's first title since 1996.

It would cull half of the posts on the team board which specul8 how much Pog earns this is not true True, a grammatical error there, what I meant was: It would cull all of the posts on the team board which specul8 how much Pog earns. It would cull half of the posts on the team board, ie all of thos...

Re: WORLD CUP PREDICTION THREAD

Yes but don't forget any real meaningful insight requires thought and research. Far easier for your Mersons, your Redknapps and your Kamaras to just trot out a lazy generalisation and make it sound like it's based on facts.

Re: What innovation would improve the league in the future?

More money into grassroots/lower leagues is the key one there. Hopefully coupled as part of some sort of investment plan (academies, youth development) rather than to be just spaffed on players wages.

More interaction with the ref during and after the game would definitely be a good idea.

Re: Playoffs Thread

Pleased for Orient, hope they come up. Have never been to Brisbane Road so would welcome that trip, not been to the New York either, and my inlaws live just outside Preston, so it's win-win-win whichever team comes up now. Plus no horror shows at London Road for at least a season so agreed with ASS,...
