Re: How impressed are you with BMcD's return to the club?

From the BBC Website: Reading manager Brian McDermott: "It sums up where we've been in the last couple of years. We've got a lot of work to do, we know that. "We have got to get the blend right, the chemistry right. We haven't got that right at the moment and that's not just been today. It...

Re: Non - League thread 2015/16

Might head along to East Thurrock. Decent non-league ground but with one of the scariest and dingiest of all social clubs. On another note, at Windsor, Carl Dennison picked up Supporters Player of the Season as well as the Manager's award. Strangely, the players plumped for Jamie de Guiseppe as thei...

Re: The Egg chasers relegation

.........not from me, I have the ability to enjoy both sports I also generally find the Madejski under utilised And that is a serious matter. What's the point of a multi-million pound structure if it isn't getting used more than 40 times a year? It will only be a matter of time before the grass get...

Re: It it worth buying a sesaon ticket for 2016/7

The last ST I bought was in 2009/10 having been a ST holder since about 1983. It got to the stage that I had to go to games to justify having the ST and not necessarily because I wanted to go. It was a habit that I am no longer addicted to.

Re: Back from the game - Palace

I said elsewhere that Palace's front 4 could rip any defence apart on their day. Maybe they didn't rip Reading apart too much but they were a handful. Fair result as I thought Reading looked slow, clumsy and predictable. Did not do enough to warrant anything out of the game. Al-Habsi was outstanding...

Re: Non - League thread 2015/16

I notice the vase and trophy finals are at wembley on the same day with one ticket for both games. Great idea in theory but gap between games whilst england play elsewhere! Apparently they are showing the game on the big screens there but i suspect most the people in for the first game will drift a...

Re: Non - League thread 2015/16

Is the CCL better because we are a lot worse? We were coasting at 3-0 and then decided to switch off completely. Once Redhill went down to 10 they were inspired and could have snatched something.

Re: Non - League thread 2015/16

Tell you what Rother, Tony Thompson can feck right off. Too many players couldn't be arsed. The club has not applied for promotion this season so there is nothing left to play for. Out of the cups and all the life of a rotting corpse.

Re: 1993-1995 vs 2005-2007

93/95 for me. We had Elm Park and we were regarded as a small club. We had some brilliant players and played with class. Smashing Blackpool 4-0 away with Tom Jones wearing the last pair of shorts out of the bag. Being applauded off the pitch by the home fans was special. The good versus evil draw aw...

Re: RUMOUR - Paolo Hurtado

Two managers have decided he's not good/ fit/strong/intelligent/motivated enough though. So why throw in a player who isn't up to it just to 'give him a chance'. It must say a lot about Hurtado that two managers opted to play people out of position rather than pick him. As I said, players have to e...

Re: Reading's most unsung hero

Jim McIntyre. Not only did his career start off like an enormous pile of half digested chicken vindaloo but by the time he was allowed to leave he was probably our best player. There weren't many bright spots out of the hilarious TB1 saga but Jim was one of them.

Re: CONFIMRED - Blackman to Derby

I think selling Blackman is a really poor decision and one that reflects badly on BMcD. You can effectively kiss goodbye to this season and probably next.

Re: Welcome back Brian?

Why get rid of a manager without having a replacement lined up? I agree with the sentiment, but assume that they had the majority of their "customer" base calling for his head based on Fulhamgate, and then continued poor results, so decided to bow to that pressure and then take time in se...

Re: Non - League thread 2015/16

They weren't promises, just ambitions. Always dependent on an investor / partner and a lease. (Not necessarily in that order.) At the time, Stott was confident he could push the notoriously slow Crown into granting the lease within a matter of months. Reading between the lines, having spent thousan...

Re: Smallest Attendance You've Been Part Of

I was at the previously mentioned Chester City away game in March 1991. Att 631, which I think is the 7th lowest gate in the history of the football league. there hasn't been a lower league gate recorded since this game. Lowest attendance for a Reading home game in the league I have been part of wa...
