Tough times. Well done to the lad for trying to battle through it.

I'm not sure that this sort of mawkishness

Snowball IMO, PotS 2010-11

is an appropriate tribute to someone with Armstrong's strength of character.

We'll have to disagree, I guess.

I think the guy is amazing to have played ONE 90 minutes with MS
but to have played as many games and as well says he's special.

Such a shame for someone of 28 ...

Gutted for him... real shame that he will have to miss out on playing football at this level.

All the best Chris

Such a shame. Fantastic professional. At least as 08/09 Player of the season his name has been etched into RFC history.

Yeah plus he's already won it once so he should give someone else a chance.

Maybe STAR could try and earn their stripes by contacting the club to suggest it ???

Again, what would they get from that? They won't do anything unless it gets them some sort of recognition or maye a peice in the EP about it.

Its not about Star Joe and I aint gonna get drawn in to my lack of respect for them.. Its about Armstong and the fact that at an incredibly young age he has been struck with MS..

I dont think that a thread about such a horrible ilness is the appropriate place for some of the posts that have been added on here joking or not

Very sad news for stretch and Reading, only been here for a few years but has, as has been said before, etched his name in the history of the club. Some very heartwarming and personal comments from both the manager and the Chairman on the OS page, I am sure they are echoed by the supporters on this site. Good wishes to you in the future Chris, you were an excellant capture for us.

would happily get my vote- but i guess it would mean a little less to him than the one he got for his actual playing, so would be pointless. im sure he would much rather have the proceeds of a charity game go to MS research

I agree with Brendy (for once)

If everyone voted for him then he may see it as a sympathy vote (which it is) and i think the last thing he wants is for everyone to feel sorry for him.

Christ,

that's shocking news. Good luck Stretch.

As pissed off as I have been with the club recently (STs and City tickets) I have to say I'm impressed with the way this matter seems to have been dealt with. Frankly I'm amazed that this never leaked and delighted that rather than show the lad the door they've worked to keep him playing.

His performances in midfield this season were notable enough even without learning about this disease.
