Hull (H) Match Thread - Sponsored by Bullard's payslip

by moo » 21 Jan 2012 12:39

Starting this thread early I know, but this game is genuinely the biggest game since the playoff final and far eclipses the Cardiff game imo.

Lets forget about takeovers for the time being. Win and we will solidly be in the top 6, lose and we could find ourselves mid table within the week. No pressure

Not a particularly strong looking bench, but here is Antonio's opportunity to show he is capable at this level.

I'm worried about the starting wingers. Although I guess we'll have new ones by the end of the month,

How do both Church and Hunt warrant a starting place over Le Fondre after last week?!

In fairness, who else could be on the bench in place of him in that position? A fit Kebe and he wouldn't be there. But to conclude, I echo you sentiments.

A goal in the 81st minute (or whatever it was) doesn't necessarily warrant a starting place. Though Church was pretty quiet last week.

True but out of the 3 strikers, we have 1 natural finisher. I'd prefer to see him touch the ball 5 times and score than watch a lot of huff and puff without any quality. Guaranteed either Hunt or Church will score today but long term they are not the answer whereas if we learnt how to play to Le Fondre's strengths we would be a much better team to watch

Immense in terms of effort? Because so was his brother but both of them are devoid of quality. Quality > effort, especially for a team who are aiming for promotion

Hunt was immense last weekend - quality and effort. McD knows he has a superb impact sub on the bench, why change a winning formula?! If Hunt or Church fails, bring on Le ~Fondre, if Hunt or Church score then they may go on a scoring run, perfect.

The win came when Le Fondre was on the pitch not before. We didn't look like scoring for the majority of that game. Did Hunt have a recognisable chance last week mate? I'd prefer to see Church and Le Fondre- both young and will improve. Hunt has peaked and won't get better mate

The winning formula is to bring on Le Fondre as a sub and get the winner ;)

I really like Le Fondre, I like Church less and am so confused by Hunt, but just felt that Hunt had a great game albeit without scoring or even getting into too many goalscoring positions. You've got to roll with form while it lasts and Hunt looks lively imo

Fordham on Twitter:
Just hope the Russians aren't watching this, they'll want their money back

So there's probably truth in the Daily Mail report

Been getting caught up in the "who are the new owners g8" thread. :?

Sounds like a pretty dull game so far where we've looked the better, tho not by much...

Cardiff, Boro and Blackpool losing - a win today would really help cement our spot in the playoffs.
