Considering we have just

improved our striking options
improved our midfield options
improved our defensive options

and can still bring in a loanee

THIS is nice

Looking Good!

Ok so now we need to keep up the pace and make up the lost ground for top two which is what you are getting at right?

In fact I'd say about 39 points would probably get us in the top two. In 18 games that's about 2.16ppg. Which is a better rate than West Ham or Southampton in the 28 games so far.

Geez would I love for us to get Bertrand back on loan, looking to buy at the end of the season. But right now, from what I hear, Chelsea won't part with him because they are thin at the position and need him for cover. If we could pick up a left back with some pace to make runs. That is the position I hope gets attention.

Gorkss has been the key acquisition this season, so far at least...him and Pearce toether have been massive. And Gorkss seems to think highly of Connolly...

I have a feeling we will be bringing in someone of note on loan when that window reopens. Whom it will be I don't know but I think we will be adding more. And with the players brought in up to this point adding to an already solid squad, well...I am optimistic we can make a run at the top 2.

I think 45 + 36 = 81 will probably be enough for second place this year

That is 2 ppg

We are currently on 1.86 ppg

18 games to go

W10 D6 L2
or
W11 D3 L4
or
W12 D0 L6

That 1.86 times 18 games = 33.48. Turn one draw into a win and it's 35.48

In real money, with current form, plus, scrape a 1-1 where we should lose 1-0, and win 1-0 where we would have drawn 0-0 and that's second place!

Well, to show my confidence I've just had a bet on promotion at 6-1.
Pretty good odds considering most bookies will only accept 3 or 4-1 now.

My only worry is West Ham, Southampton, Brum, Boro..all away.

First 14 days of April are massive. 2.0ppg would be up with the 106.

Agreed, we could lose all four

but Saints are not on a great run (next 4 weeks should be interesting, are they going to bounce back or implode?)

Boro have really slipped.

I think we need to make hay while the sun shines, get the points
in NOW (ie Feb-March), raise confidence, worry our rivals etc.

Will be interesting to see how West Ham react to that mauling at Ipswich.

It would be great to see Ipswich on a run now and beating everybody
(except us as we've played them twice)

I don't so much worry about those away fixtures, we tend to do well away when there's more on it.
I worry about the other top sides in the league.
I think birmingham and west ham will finish top 2. Birmingham seem to be getting better and better, although they've lost ridgwell, hopefully that'll hurt them.

Great signings by us though. 2 prospects, a top experienced forward who can hold it up and great defensive cover, bring on the rest of the season!!

No chance with Cashley sent off last night - R5L already say Bertrand will play next game

Out of interest how often has 81 points seen a team promoted 2nd? I see that still being short of and to get that much we need to improve still.

Southampton may have slipped and so too Middlesbrough but could be dips. Regardless of that there's Cardiff to jump in there and Birmingham too.

We need to be playing a whole lot better to even think about getting into the play offs never mind top 2! Dillusional springs to mind.

Not likely to happen in the immediate future what with Ashley Cole's red card last night

Why pick Game 7?

Because thats when we started winning, shame there isn't a table we can see that starts from Game 1 that, you know, actually counts?

Why pick Game 7?

Cos it then skews the stats to prove his point.

How do you work THAT out?

We are top (TOP) of the form table for the last 22 games, and on target for 78-79 points
WITHOUT the new boys

We have won 8 of the last 11, multiply that out and we should win 12 of the next 17 and be on 81 with a game left to play!

Why have we suddenly got to be BETTER? On what exactly do you base your statement?

And do you not think Roberts, Connolly, Cywka, Kebe (and maybe a loanee) will improve us
or at the very worst allow us to maintain 1.86 ppg which will EASILY get us into the POs (78-79 points)?

It was a rhetorical question, I was just highlighting the latest abuse of "statistics"
