The song originated that day following someone noticing in a very drunken moment that Madonna's song Erotic sounded more like she was
singing Billy Oddie, Bill Oddie, rub your beard all over my body

As also witnessed some 20 years later in the Sir Robert Peel before the friendly with AFC Wimbledon

Don't know if this has been mentioned, but Bill actually lives near my old dear on the Cricket Green in Hartley Wintney - so technically we are his big local team.

Avon Royal
Ian Royal Now that's the real way a club anthem is born.

I became aware of it after an epic HNA thread about 8-12 years ago which quickly descended into various riffs off the original. The only ones I can remember right now are:

Ian Royal, Ian Royal, rub your beard all over my boil and one about Harold Shipman. Some scanned better than others.

Was that thread really 8 years ago!

Harold Shipman, Harold Shipman rub your beard all over my sick nan.

I thought it happened around the time shipman was in the news, so that would be either 2000 when he was banged up or 2004 (?) when died

Although he also has a house in Hampstead so it could be Arsenal

Great use of the rarely spotted "I'd've" there.

Met Bill Oddie once. The beard is spectacular. Nice guy too.

A recent tweet from the great man:

Bill Oddie Official ‏@BillOddie

I was just confused, now I am sad. Southampton 1 Reading 0. I told you I bring only grief.

Poor b*stard, has suffered from depression and now we get him hooked on Reading Football Club during such a miserable season!

Man U lost and I should be sad, but the Norwich crowd looked SOOO happy I had to love 'em. Not so keen on Man City winning 5-0 tho.Stop it.

Shouldn't that say "rub my beard, all over your body"?
