Could we do a Wigan?

by Delboy » 17 Mar 2013 08:13

Last year Wigan were written off , adrift and a tough run in. We are in a similar position , we need to win games as we did last year, with Kebe and the Pog back and nothing to lose, one win against Southampton could kick start us again. Remote but so was winning the title last year !!!!

No chance we have no quality.

Plenty of effort and that will not be good enough.

5 wins from 8 games and only two of those unwinnable no problems !
Keep Dolan on until the end of the season-let the new Manager (elect) look on from the sidelines and decide who he wants to keep and who he wants to dump (there are a lot of those).

To "Do a Wigan" we need to start scoring goals to win matches.
We have scored 4 goals in the last 5 games and one of those was an own goal.
Can't see it myself but there is still hope.....and not much else.

We'd have to get very lucky, and play very well, but it's not completely out of the question.

Just had a go on the BBC predictor and whilst I admit being slightly optimistic on my RFC predictions I still have us being relegated BUT by only one point behind Sunderland.

Southampton 37
Sunderland 36
Royals 35
Wigan 32
QPR 28

Wigan picked up 18 points from 8 games including wins at Arsenal (A) and United (H), to move from 25 points to 43, it can be done.

I quite like our run-in now. Arguably the only teams with things to play for will be Arsenal (4th place) and QPR (relegation) the rest of our run-in will be teams with nothing to play for who will hopefully be a bit more open and less 'up for it'.

Admittedly that's clutching at a shed load of straws but if we get Kebe, Guthrie & Pog back I'd not rule out one last crack at a great escape.

No no no no no

New manager doesn't look on from sidelines, he comes in as soon as he can. Wtf is the point of him looking on?

New manager Monday please.

The only team likely to do a Wigan this season are Wigan.

I am quite confident we will do a Reading though by bottling every important winnable game we have left.
