Back from the game - Fulham Away

by Para Handy » 04 May 2013 21:10

Haven't a clue who played for us tbh. Whoever did, they were obviously played out of position. The radio said they were crap and I tend to agree.

There you go. A generic back from the game thread for you Team Board twats.

Yeah, I lost interest before I could type the "y". Pleased to see it made you rather angry though. You're the sort of bloke I'm talking about.

Quickest way to prove that people on the Team Board are twats = act like a massive twat on the Team Board.

Er, it isn't actually but I'm liking your getting quite angry about it. Will it annoy you a bit more if I call you a "newbie fecking twat" that can't spell Basingstoke? Or is that a hilarious pun, your username?

Lets try and get this thread on track.

Call me naive, but I thought we were superb today, our passing was as good and effective as anything I've seen since Coppell's reign. When Adkins was appointed, I felt he was the right choice but we would have to wait until well into next season before we saw the benefit, well on the basis of today, we won't have to be waiting that long. With each game we have looked better and better and, just six games in, Adkins has transformed a team that previous was totally deviod of confidence to one that looked comfortable on the ball and entirely at home taking the game to the oppo in an away Premiership game.

Individually, players look so much better, Mariappa, Morrison, Guthrie and particularly Karacan. Karacan has spent the season being an attritional player reliant solely on work rate and giving us nothing nwhen we had possession. Now, he's hungry for the ball, looking for the short pass, making himself available, a completely different player.

If we keep this squad (less Pog, Harte, Shorey and Pearce) and make a few decent signings as replacements, I see no reason why we shouldn't be supremely confident about next season.

sorry mate, that's garbage.

To score 4 away in a Prem League game takes some doing. No matter who the opposition are or what is at stake.

Lost one of the last four. It is improving no matter what you say.

We looked like the team we could have been all season with the right mix of players picked, tactics and luck. That was the best display of football I've seen from us since Coppell as well. That's not meant as a slur on McDermott's performance prior to this season, it's more an asthetic thing compared to that. McDermott produced a relentless, ruthless winning machine at Championship level. But today was actually pretty to watch as well as fairly effective.

I was toying with going to this game a week or so ago and I decided to save my money for next season and other things. Egg all over my face right now. I thought we might be in for a better performance with a team looking to prove their worth after the crushing weight of impending relegation was lifted. They looked nervy against QPR and I thought they resorted to a directer game under the pressure of it being the absolute must win game. Today they looked relaxed and like they were enjoying themselves for the first time in absolutely ages. And it showed in the performance.

McCarthy - 8 some great saves and kept us in the game and ahead during the first half.
Gunter - 7 got forward really well and allowed HRK / McAnuff / McCleary to tuck in and support Pog.
Kelly - 6.5 did ok, could have given away a penalty.
Mariappa - 7.5 solid as usual
Morro - 7.5 good game
Karacan - 9 MotM looked a different player was all over the place, scored, an assist and great passing
Guthrie - 7.5 worked hard and passed well. Great to see a partnership that works
McAnuff - 7.5 interchanged really well with McCleary and HRK
McCleary - 6.5 Pacey and dangerous but I thought he was too greedy on a number of occasions when he could have release the ball to someone better placed.
HRK - 9 unlucky not to be MotM could have had another penalty, could have had a hat-trick if played in by McCleary at least once
Pog - 7.5 led the line well, should have scored.

ALF - 7.5 looked sharp and seemed to show what he can do in a team that can actually pass and move
Blackman - n/a didn't really notice him
Carrico - n/a likewise.

Adkins - 11
Fans - 9 loud and clear in a fair few patches. Glad to see those who went finally got a bit of reward.

I am fooking exstatic right now. There's a lot of work to do yet, but that promised a whole lot of good for next season.

Don't know if you think your being funny or something but how can a team with:

437 Passes
22 shots
60% possession
4 goals
3 Points

not be an improvement from the rest of the season. I really don't know what you are expecting. Cant ask for anything more than a good performance and 3 points, especially as it was away from home. I think your the one who needs to "get real"

It's alright, at least Mr Cynical would be delighted with a 0-6 defeat in a season where we've won promotion.
