Nicky Hammond

This has kind of be covered by the Ricky Lambert thread but I think nevermind; let's give the guy his own discussion.

I thought he was an average Goalkeeper (one of Quinn and Goodings signings if I recall - not 100% sure on that if any one wants to put me right) which just about leaves Sir John Madejski, Nigel Howe and the odd Golden Gamble ticket seller left who have been here longer.

As Director of Football; he is very well respected within football. I wouldn't want to lose him from the club. (There isn't any rumours, this is just a debate about the man) - so, now its over to you.

Very good at getting other teams to pay lots of money for our players.
Very bad at getting teams/players/agents to accept lots of money to come and play for us.

Has done really well at getting teams/players/agents to accept reasonable amounts of money to come and play for us.

Anyone who watched his display that night against Cardiff knows how good he was.
Just unlucky with injuries which was a shame.

Only time will tell, but I feel that he and Adkins will get on like a house on fire!

Both former keepers, know the leagues inside out, and both have that corporate mantra about them. Could be the start of a very fruitful relationship at the club.

When discussing the players we have missed out on during his time here, mainly Tommy Smith. Git me thinking about Tom Rogic, who was to blame for that falling apart?

I think the whole of Australia convinced him that a move to Reading would be a disaster for his career.

According to this report would suggest Hammond was in part to blame but then also a change of heart by player

The agreement for Rogic to go to Reading, meanwhile, which appeared to be a done deal, has hit two problems, with the English side only willing to pay a certain amount upfront despite having agreed an in-principle figure overall.

But more pertinently, Rogic himself is believed to have felt increasingly uncomfortable that Reading represent the best platform for his development given the deepening relegation battle facing the EPL club.

I do wonder who was responsible for negotiating Jason Roberts' contract from the club's point of view.
Roberts was able to activate a clause giving him another year despite hardly playing last season through injury.
Obviously we don't know the precise detail of the clause(s) but it does seem like Roberts and his advisors negotiated a smarter original deal for him than is good for the club now. - Hopefully Roberts will be firing on all cylinders soon and that will be irrelevant.

Nowhere near fit and recovery is slow according to Adkins and will def miss start of season....doesn't bode well I fear...

Why does somebody need to be blamed when a player decides to join a much bigger and more successful club, who he will also have a better chance of playing for?

:nail on head gif:

The media here wheeled every single person even remotely connected to football to speak in the papers about how it was a bad move. I'm blaming AFeds girlfriend.
