Big Ern
Royal Dee Phil Parkinson. He would bring some organisation and backbone in to this team.

Only a matter of time before someone brought up the Parky option.

Ok, please explain, what Parky has achieved in his management career, and then compare it to Adkins.

He's quality. Reading had been about managers and players making/ regaining a name for themselves. No one had heard of McDermott, McCarthy, Kebe, Long, Doyle, Siggurdson, Osborn, Williams, Francis, Hislop, McGhee (as a manager), Karacan, Pearce, Ingimarsson, Bernal, Kerr.... before they came to us. That's what we're about.
I'd love to see Parky or Mackay in. Proper blokes with no bullshit and no fake sun tan.
The best case scenario is cardiff take Adkins, 'cos of his Tan (like than  ), we get some money, and employ a decent RFC style manager, whether it be Mackay or Parky

Mackay has done a better job than Adkins, had to build cardiff up, and did well in the prem for the short time he was manager.

Adkins inherited a team full of Lamberts, Lallanas, Scherniderlins etc. it was hard for a new manager to come in at southampton and do badly in my opinion.

Cardiff were also doing better than Southampton at the time Adkins had them in the prem, which leads me to believe he would be a better prem manager.

Laughable that the club would sack NA right now unless the cost of doing so is perceived to be less than the loss in club value. And with that, laughable that there'll be a war chest in January, unles the cost can recouped in the sale. And with that, where's the certanty that with new ownership NA will not be replaced, and maybe that's part of the lack of performance.

Don't agree - He spent £50m in the summer + whatever kitty he had for last season.

Judge Adkins once he gets £50m perhaps...

Sadly we are not in a position to improve on Nigel, but many of the candidates listed above would be more suited to making a fist of our current plight. It's a time to man the trenches, not play fancy Dan bullshit between the back 5.

It's quite easy to compare the two manager's starts in English football. Virtually identical.
Both took tin-pot clubs, Scunthorpe and Colchester, into the English 2nd tier, to the surprise and admiration of all.

Fortunately for Adkins, he left for the cushy job of Southampton. A club with the foundations of size for success.
Parkinson left for Hull, who at the point were by no means an established 2nd tier side. He had a bad start and was sacked after 24 games.

tbh who knows where Parkinson would be if he'd got a plush/easy job like Saints in L1 rather than Hull in the Champ followed by taking over a Championship Charlton team that had won once in 11 games and was clearly on the way to Championship relegation.

Since then Parkinson took over Bradford who had been stuck in League 2 for 4 years, took them to a cup final, brought them back into league 1 and so far this season looks to be doing a good job of keeping them there.

Basically, you're being quite dismissive of Parkinson's achievements.

If we were in a Rodgers type situation you might have a point. But we aren't. So hold your nerve.

So a quick fix and then the usual epic failure should we manage to snatch a place in the PL!

Haven't people still learned from our past two experiences in the top flight?! We are not at risk of relegation, nor will we be. Now is the right time to invest in (Madejski and Anton note) in some decent building materials and then build first class and long lasting foundations. No more building on the cheap only for the construction to get blown away the first time it is properly tested.

Not entirely sure the fault lies with our managers in the prem, so much as the short sighted board with their short arms and deep pockets?

Didnt Adkins sign Ramierz costing £12.5 million- £15 million + clearly on a ridiculous wage as otherwise would have signed for a Liverpool/ Tottenham who were supposedly hot on this tail. Adkins clearly had the funds for his first season in the top flight and so did Mackay. Mackay did better.

Adkins had just got back to back promotions??

And weren't Saints about 15/16th & a few clear of the bottom 3 when Adkins got the boot? In fact he had just drawn 2-2 at Stamford Bridge when he was sacked.

Cardiff & Saints were pretty much in exactly the same position so I'm really not sure what your point is. There is absolutely no evidence whatsoever that Malky is better than Nigel. None.

Also, Cardiff have been a nearly team for a good few years now & have always had a decent top 6 champ level squad. It was only a matter of time before they actually managed promotion. Well done to him for getting them up but there are probably quite a few others who could have done it too.

Saints are have been rich in quality for years.. Lambert/ Lallana both now playing for England. Who have Cardiff got of the same level? Adkins got lucky with Saints and most capable managers could have got them back to back promotion with that squad especially at a time when there were no other true contenders with a similar level of players, and even then we won the championship with a group of mediocre mid-table championship players.

Ramirez was even quoted as saying why have you signed for Southampton saying "they are paying me a lot" clearly no issue of funds from Saints perspective...

Don't agree I'm afraid. Adkins has 3 league titles, a play off win & 2 auto promotions on his CV.

With 3 different clubs....

Lets wait to see if anyone is signed in the transfer window.

We can either rip into Nigel or Anton.

So winning a league title as a manager is not relevant? Fair enough my bad.

So he still has a league title, play off win & 2 auto promotions with 2 different clubs even if you discount that.

Feel free to make some crap comment about that though.

The suggestions that Malky is the answer to our prayers are laughable - in fact just indicative of modern day crap fans who take Jeff Stelling & Paul Merson's opinion as gospel.
