3points A Watford supporting friend of mine just posted this comment on Facebook

"having to suffer a really sh*t Watford team lose to a one dimensional hoofball outfit."

Now that is ironic bearing in mind the way Watford played for so many years.

We lost 3:0 two games in a row didn't we - against CP and Wimb .... two of the most inept home performances ever. Who was our manager then - AP or SC?

Have a feeling it was SC. I think it might actually have been three 3-0 defeats in a row. That game against Crystal Palace pretty much kick-started Andy Johnson's career.
Yes it was Sir Steve's early days with us.

IIRC the third 3-0 defeat was at home to Watford (of all the teams) in the cup...I was there when Lloyd O came on, and was the only player that looked like actually doing absolutely anything.

Stoke (a), Palace (h) and Wimbledon (h) were the games in that run. The 3-0 cup defeat to Watford was in 2004, with two 90th minute goals being leaked as the team gave up. I remember this because I started Uni the next day and shared halls with a Watford fan, who delighted in the previous night's result.

Yeah, all of a sudden football wasn't so important to him. He quit his course at Christmas, so was, as our easy end dwelling chums might say, a bit of a 'melt'.

Because we started 1 minute late and were late out after half time / had more first half injury time?

1 minute 26 seconds of first half injury time and 7 minutes of second half injury time according to the beeb, so about right.

We are a better team without Guthrie.

+1

Currently. He's still comfortably our best midfielder. Poor form doesn't equal shit player.

I agree he is out best midfielder, maybe even best player. But maybe he is wrong for the team. The last game we won before today was ... away to Huddersfield. When he was suspended. He slows it down too much. It might be because the others can't read him well enough, but the fact remains that we were much zippier today in our play, and it was without him.

Muskrat 1 minute 26 seconds of first half injury time and 7 minutes of second half injury time according to the beeb, so about right.

Ref added 5 mins in 2nd half but there was no way that injuries accounted for anything like seven minutes.

For some reason or another, the game didn't actually start until 3.06 - 3.07, always going to be behind schedule from then on in.

Was this the night they all left singing "See you on Saturday", because we were playing at their place at the weekend?

Might be better off short term with him out. But once the team is in better form and we've got a more settled 11 and system, he'll be a real positive again. Like he was at the start of the season, when he was playing like a nailed on PotS.
