Adkins - the alternatives

by Reading4eva » 25 Mar 2014 22:17

I know there's little we can do with our ownership crisis, however should we/could we dispose of Adkins like Foredt have and who should we bring in.

After today and our inconsistent form, I say yes he should go. No team have gone up being inconsistent. Who would come in? Zola possibly would be a good choice. Right the wrongs of last season

Yeah, then we could bring in a "proper" manager like Warnock or BiLOLy Davies. :|

Clubs with no money can't afford to pay off contracts and sack managers.

No decent or sane manager would come here while we are in limbo as far as ownership is concerned. Unless we get that sorted, it doesn't matter who the manager is, we will have a huge fire sale in the summer and will be struggling against relegation next season.

If Nige was to walk, it'd have to be Dolan.

Yep - Nige not going anywhere. How long is his contract?

If Anton doesn't bring Billy McDermott back now then I don't know what he's thinking.

The last thing Anton is thinking about is Reading Football club.

First off, I very much doubt Adkins told them to play utter sh*t tonight.

We couldn't afford to pay him off if we sacked him. I think he's more likely to walk as soon as something decent comes along.

most established managers would want to come in to a club with no transfer funds to build their own squad. And most available alternatives are utterly loathesome - Colin, Billy Davies and Di Nazio can all do a big one from a great height.

So if he walks, promote from within - Dolan.

I actually feel that if this summer is going to involve as many player changes as I'm expecting then Nigel will be the right guy for the job (if he doesn't walk) with youngsters coming through. Believe it or not he does actually want to play the passing game which from what I've seen the young guns have been more suited to than the actual 1st team. Will we (the fans) have the patience for this sort of project, this I doubt more...

I don't see any value in ditching Adkins whatsoever.

Have a firesale, sell to buy, whatever it takes, get some fresh blood in if we fail to go up & see what he can do.

Oh and anyone who says this league isn't dump.......you're stupid. It is grade A crap & the fact we can still go up baffles me.

There is no alternative in our price range and I'm pretty sure we don't want to sack him - too much of a payoff. Outside chance of playoffs after tonight (which was shit) but worth the free gamble as he has a contract I suspect we can't afford to pay up. Might as well back the boys even if not the manager and see where we end up (8th) IMO!!
