Back in the car, soaked (Nottm Forest A)

by Ouroboros » 23 Aug 2014 17:26

Bit of an omnishambles really.

First time I've seen the academy boys. Taylor and Edwards were disappointing, and Taylor didn't look at all comfortable in his left-flank role. Clearly Cummings was annoyed that he never had an outlet down the touch line. Kuhl does look very talented - just a shame he couldn't keep his head and put away that chance before half-time. That might have made for a different second half. Cox barely contributed.

As for the goals - more individual defensive errors than I have the heart to list. Not a great day for Gunter or Cummings.

I suppose this is what happens when you have 7 senior players out.

Sounds pretty similar to Huddersfield at home - Cox contributed little; Taylor looked out of position ....

I've been trying to scapegoat Blackman on the other thread, not sure it's working though. How was he?

Better than the alternative.

It's Hector that's starting to frighten me.

I've been stuck at work all day and haven't seen any of it. Does the score accurately reflect the performance?

Second half performance yes, we were in it first half.

Honestly think they came out second half and targeted Gunter as everything came down the right. Once they'd score their third from that that was pretty much the competition over and everything stopped coming down the right.

4th goal was omnishambles in defense, Kuhls clearance came off a Forest player right into the path of another Forest player.

Annoying thing for me today was that the academy boys (Kuhl, Edwards, Tanner) were pretty good. It's the more experienced 'senior' pros that we're shite. Norwood looked okay too but didn't really get on the ball enough to form a valid opinion. Taylor is awful on the left, likewise Cummings, and we lacked balance as a result.

Desperately need pace and power in the team. Forest weren't particularly good but they had that in abundance which is why they steamrolled us.

Hector needs to calm down and do the simple stuff right.

I know it's tough right now, but I do wish Nigel would stop thinking it's not an issue to play people out of position. It didn't work last season, and it's not working now.

Surely he'd already seen enough before today to know that Taylor is not comfortable on the left wing, and that Obita should not be playing CM.

We would have had a better chance today if Akpan had played alongside Kuhl, with Obita replacing either Cummings or Taylor on the left.

Playing lots of youngsters is one thing, but expecting several to cope with playing in the wrong position, when we don't have to, is just asking for trouble.

Just saw the goals on SSN. The 2nd & 4th in particular are just horrendous.
