Anyone who has managed in the Vauxhall McConference can take their 'skills' elsewhere.

Garcia seems to have achieved little: Israeli title, Championship play-off semis defeat. Didn't he step down from Watford for health reasons?

Lennon only achieved with Celtic & seems to do have done naff all at Bolton, although hands may have been tied somewhat by finances.

Brian - promotion, play-off final, 2 FA Cup QFs, knows the club.
Against Brian, there's the "don't go back" view and the "he didn't cut it in the Prem view" and the "can he handle personalities" argument
The former argument would have more value if there was an outstanding better candidate. I've not seen one on this or the longer list.
For the second, we need to get there first.
For the last, screw the personalities with their "I don't feel like playing today". Give me workers who'll run through walls and bleed for this club.

In my view Brian was sacked before for over-achieving. That team wasn't good enough to get promoted yet somehow they were champions. Surely some of that has to be down to the manager's ability to get more out of a group of players than seems possible. Both summers our best player was sold & it took him a while to adjust the playing style into something that worked but each time it did.

My heart says Brian by a mile, my head says he's the best option.

If this is what we are down to then it would have to be Brian but only because i can get my photo with him and the Championship trophy out again.
Other than that then im underwhelmed to say the least.

This whole "he didn't cut it in the Premier League" talk - you know we're not in the Premier League, right?

Exactly. And who on this shortlist has managed to achieve promotion with a frankly average Championship side after the star striker was sold the previous summer?

Should have never been sacked in the first place.

When in the Prem he had, by some way, the weakest squad in that league . And we didn't finish last . He did ok.

And when in the Championship he had an average squad in that league (that had just lost their top scorer and their captain). And we finished first. He did brilliantly.

leon
ladida_gunner_graham Seriously, none of them.

what not even Ian Royal you nutjob?

We're not a big enough club to entice and retain a big name manager like Dave. As soon as Mourinho or Benitez are dismissed, he'll be gone. Where's the continuity? Where's the stability? Come on Leon, face the facts. Dave swims in different soup.

He's got his coaching badges now and talks a good game. I'd give him a go, we could do worse

My Great Grandfather was German, but that's as close to foreign as I get.

Must be me and two foreigners, not Bri.

We should hold a two week competition on Football Manager.

First player to win the Champions League with Reading five seasons in a row gets the job.

I can only imagine how many scumsaves have been made in that run.

Plus 02/03? - everybody won championship manager back then.

I dont mean to belittle your achievements, mind you, but what have you done in the made up football world recently?
