TBM We've gone with experience before in Clarke and Adkins and they didn't do much for us.

Yeah, this. Steve Coppell didn't do much either. Case proven.

TBM I don't get why people are banging on about experience....McD didn't have any when he got the job and got us promoted, Pardew didn't have any when he got the job and got us promoted.

We've gone with experience before in Clarke and Adkins and they didn't do much for us.

The fact is Stam will have playing experience, the experience of playing under some of the worlds best managers and that knowledge is worth 10x whatever some coaching badge can give you

I'm plesaed to see him arrive

U can be concerned about a lack if experience

While also acknowledging his other qualities and being glad hes(someone's) here.

His name alone brings things that experience does not.
As with his big scariness.

Hes played at massive clubs, won champions league, knows how to defend. And has dine some coaching etc

All this is good.

No one expected McDermott to nail it in two years either, but he did.
Success is multifactorial. Experience just one of em

LWJ It's the fcuking Daily Mail. They probably read about the odds dropping on Twitter and printed the story to try and be the first paper to 'have' it.

You seriously are deluded if you think they have an inside scoop and don't print unfounded bollocks for the sake of it.

For football they're one of the more reliable papers!

Not seen Bale, Ronaldo or Ramos move to United. Or Benzema to Arsenal.

Not sure when that Messi to United story they came up with at the weekend is going to come to fruition.

I don't recall reading that they were done deals.

Yeah, that argument is daft.
Along with the 'thais have tried experienced and English. But that didnt work so are now going with foreign and inexperience nonsense'
Thats not how success works. If he does succeed itll be because of a load of different things.

It was reported (maybe falsely) that Stam was out due to not having any budget to spend. Him coming in might mean there is some money to spend...wishful thinking?
Hopefully some players that have caught Jaap's eye...

So take your pick from this lot, then. http://www.flashscore.ae/team/jong-ajax/GncWwxTm/

Sam Hendriks and Ashraf Al Mahdioui, please, for starters.

So apart from Coppell, who else have we had with experience that did us some good?

I mean even McGhee was a player manager when he took over....

McGhee, McDermott, Pardew - 3 managers with no experience yet did a great job at the club. My point is that you don't HAVE to have it to be a good manager.

Brian did have managerial experience.

Albeit at conference level (were Woking conference at the time? CBA to check) but point still stands.

72 bus Terrific, never played in the Chump, no idea about the players or teams in this league, absolutely no experience of managing a football club at any level, but the owners have heard of him because he played for Man U who sell a lot of shirts in Thailand so he must be good.

Skybet have us 7/1 for promotion, they really need to go and have a lie down.

McGhee pardew McDermott ( 1st time) all did OK with no previous experience
I'm feeling positive about the future

Slough Town

In that case Stam has experience too, managing the Ajax B team

Does he actually manage or is he just a coach?
