Lower West Positions mean nothing if you are not relegated or promoted.

I disagree, where you finish one season can have a massive impact on decisions made at the club and expectations for the following season.

3rd losing the playoffs > 21st and safe from relegation.

Football isn't a one season thing where you start each season with a clean slate, you are always building on the season before.

Remind we where Brighton finished in 2014/15 before mounting a big push for last season?

20th but then that sort of turnaround rarely happens in the Championship.

I can't help but start to get a bit optimistic following these first 2 games. The next 4 games will be a real acid test for our season.

FFS we've played 2 fcuking games - against pretty shite opposition too.

Have you lot got goldfish brains? Do none of you remember how last season panned out?

Chill.Nothing wrong with optimism. I'd certainly take 6 points from the next 4 games if offered right now.
I think it's been said enough that it will be how we react to going behind or/and inevitable defeat at some stage.
For now let people enjoy the moments and the fact that we have at least what seems to be a method of playing that the players enjoy( allegedly).

It's not just the results but how we've been playing, calm down and stop insulting people.

You can't insult people unless they say the word forward or they want the team to try and score more goals.

GloucestershireRoyal A very untypical way of wording the subject line; 'Where will you finish?'

Perhaps it should be corrected to 'Where will we finish?'

the OP isn't a reading fan.

sandman Best we can hope for is mid table.

If we can get a run going, who knows, there's not a great deal of pressure on mr Staam so we could be the surprise package ...

I'm perfectly calm thanks and my memory's good enough to remember how we played early doors last season, which yours manifestly isn't.

Is it though? A good performance but defeat away at Brum and then 3 very tepid draws?

Or are you referring to sept/oct when we won 6 games and everyone thought we'd walk the league?

I don't think we can apply much of what happened last season to this one. Clarke was disillusioned early doors with the Thai's not backing him and this transferred down to the playing squad, hence the drop in performances and results from Craven Cottage onwards.

This season is an unknown quantity though due to the turnover of players and a new manager but I've watched the team a lot in pre season and the last two games have also given me encouragement. Those stating Preston are a poor side; well they have a similar squad to last season that finished mid table and beat us home & away so I see our opening day win as a good early sign. Next three games will show us how far we have come.
