CONFIMRED - Lewis Grabban

by TBM » 31 Aug 2016 10:04

The Bournemouth striker could well be on the move today, with Reading, Bristol City and Leeds interested

Yeah he'll do....got an eye for the goal which is always handy as a striker

Heard he's on his way to Bristol. Which would make sense as they have quite a bit of money.

Likewise but as Kes says Bristol City have loads-a-money after selling their good striker to the Villa so this could fall into the (Lescott,Cahill, Taylor, O'Neill)category where we tried very hard to get players but didn't succeed.
Would be ideal if the idea is to have a fast-moving flexible striker (a better Rekels) rather than a target man only in say Lambert (a better version of Kermorgant).

He seems a bit too good for us. Struggling to believe we're in on it. Good stuff if we are.

Exactly what we need- a mobile striker, proven at this level.

But as has been posted previously, I don't think we're realistically in a position to sign him. Bournemouth will want to recoup the ludicrous money they spent on re-signing him from Norwich, and they know that Bristol City have 8 figures knocking about after selling Kodija.

Unless Tevereden has a magic wand or the Stam effect attracts the player, I don't see this happening.

Yep, Bournemouth will want 6m minimum and there are clubs who would be willing to pay that. Not Reading.

Stam won't make a difference if it's a permanent deal. We'll never stump up enough cash for that to make a difference.

Agreed. The limiting factor is very much us being willing to meet Bournemouth's asking price. Which we almost certainly won't unless the Thais fancy breaking our transfer record just for the craic.

The only hope for us is some sort of loan arrangement, which I can't see happening if Bristol are willing to meet the asking price.

Not a top goal scorer but is quick and will stretch defences which is something we need. Don't see him being too expensive and could see Bournemouth letting him go for £3m or so.

Which still puts us out of the running ofc.

Ticks a lot of boxes for me, but if it is on a perm deal then, as others have said, the fee would surely be a bit of an issue with the other clubs who are supposedly in for him.

Williams out and Grabban in would make a lot of sense considering our other options in those two positions.

If we are going to break our transfer record, and we obviously will someday sooner rather than later because fees are just going up and up, then a forward such as Grabban would be the signing to do it on.

He's kind of the last piece in Stam's jigsaw and we've not spent too much (in fees at least) on our other business this summer.
