MATCHWATCH : Fulham (h) sponsored by 'Diddy' Richard Osman

by Sutekh » 30 Dec 2016 09:37

A Friday night sees Reading welcome the mighty Fulham to the Mad Stad for the last game of 2016. Fulham are in excellent current form and have already well and truly "done" Jaap Stam's men by 5 to nothing only 4 weeks or so ago, therefore this is going to be quietly likely be the toughest game Reading have had so far this season.

Reading really need to be up for this and surely some from of pride and determination must shine through tonight to show that they can turn up for a game as they really can't afford to be as inept as they were on the banks of the Thames.

Aside from Steven Quinn Reading would appear to have a full squad available although the game may be considered still too soon for Deniss Rakels and Jordan Obita after their return to training

Sadly Fulham are at full strength aside from the loss of defender Tomas Kalas to a hamstring injury. Their current form is won 3 and drawn 2 of their last 5 matches and they have also scored at least 2 goals in each of those games.

Referee

Newport's James Linington is expected to be running affairs

Previously...

24 Sep 2016 > Reading 1-0 Huddersfield Town
21 Nov 2015 > Reading 2-1 Bolton Wanderers
02 May 2015 > Derby County 0-3 Reading
28 Dec 2014 > Reading 2-1 Norwich City
24 Nov 2014 > Cardiff City 2-1 Reading
12 Aug 2014 > Reading 3-1 Newport County (League Cup)
10 Sep 2011 > Reading 0-2 Watford
02 May 2010 > Reading 4-1 Preston North End
30 Jan 2010 > Reading 1-0 Barnsley

Historically

This will be the 20th league game against Fulham in Reading. It's not a particularly impressive home record either having won 9 and lost 6 of the 19 games played to date.

Swift, Beerens, Obita & McShane on bench

Harriott and Evans start

McShane has a broken bone in his wrist. Scheduled for an operation after the ManU game

Fulham's Chris Martin (on loan from Derby) has said today he will not play for Fulham again so he is out of their squad completely. Piazon starts.

Is there any more context to Martin? Imminent move? Expecting to get back into Derby's line up? Fallen out with management?

Reports suggest he thinks he's got a chance of getting in the Derby side under McLaren and he's also missing his family who are still in the Midlands.

Moments when Dim and Mick haven't been able to see Al-Habsi apparently.

We seem somewhat lackluster. Although two clear strong chances that were well saved. Fulham seem to have created bog all for all their being perhaps more in control.

Harriott off injured. McShane coming on as replacement...

Err... not sure what that's going to do to the shape.

Harriot was playing at wing back so VDB and Moore will move over one and McShane will go to right centre back.
