But when you play a possession game, building from the back, having someone who resembles a baby giraffe isn't ideal. Cooper is raw and needs to get games under his belt. He won't get that here at present.

If it's any conciliation I was going to just put

But i figured that you would be none the wiser so I thought I'd try and elaborate and not be as big of a pcunt. New year new me and all that.

I should have known better seeing as this is United's first game in the cup as well and the Prem teams don't enter until Round 3.
I don't mind making a fool of myself from time to time. :D

Cheers

Just pretend you didn't know if he went on loan to a lower league side or not, playing a round 1 or 2 cup game ;)

I hope this outlay is because of the new ownership, because the club really are not in a position to be spending £2-£3m on a new player, if everything I have heard & read is to be believed.

If this isn't from the chinese its just more debt for the club.

Hitchytwo
Lower West
Hitchytwo I personally and excited about this transfer! (If it goes through). I completely trust stams judgement on the defenders. He must know what a 'hidden gem' of a centerback looks like, based on the Moore and Blackett signing.

Coopers days are numbered at RFC. Hasn't good what Stam requires. Reminds me of Flint at Brizzle City. Both very much in the mould of old fashioned English centre backs. Lack all round technical ability.

I agree although he has got the advantage of height. There are not many centerbacks in the championship as tall as cooper. For that reason alone I would keep him at least on the bench.

May as well sign Luol Deng then

I saw about 15 games last season and Cooper made a catastrophic mistake (leading to a goal, goalscoring opportunity or penalty) in all of them.

Along with the MK Dons league cup game this season.

It did seem that when he made a mistake last season, it would lead to a goal.

I like Cooper, but I really don't think he is suited to this style of play and I don't think Stam trusts him.

A loan move could be the best thing for him.

The fee we will get for Danny Williams in a week or so will pay for it, don't worry.

So what's the line up going to be with Ilori in the team?

Who is the loser in this signing?

I reckon he's a long-term replacement for McShane, whose deal finishes this summer. I can't seem them offering macca anything more than a one year deal given he's turned 31. And even then it would be as cover.

Moore (or maybe Gunter?) as captain next season....

McShane is not out of contract this summer, he signed a three year deal when he signed

I think we are likely to switch to three at the back, but if not, I would imagine McShane would miss out.

in terms of where the money is from - should surely still have some money from the Blackman/Tish/Norwood sales as well.

Long term, he potentially sees Moore/Tiago/Blackett as a back 3, which could be formidable. McShane still has big role to play in the mid term though. Agree probably the end of the road for Cooper. To be honest, I've never liked the look of him, couldn't understand when there were rumours of Bournemouth etc bidding for him.

Stam won't drop the club captain. Blackett will be the one to come out, or Ilori might sit in front of the defence as he's good with the ball.
