Random Inflatables

by Brum Royal » 26 Apr 2017 15:15

So I'm assuming Burton will be random inflatables as usual next week being the last away game.

Interesting to note that Barnet have banned Grimsby fans from bringing inflatables (so they've hired a mariarchi band instead  ) but on the BBC article below, they've used an (uncredited) pic of our Championship inflatables party at Birmingham from a few years back.

What game was that at? Am I right in thinking it was at home?

Think you might be right with that one. Blackburn had the biggest (and best) selection of inflatables of ones I can remember. The massive digger was another one I remember from that day.

How many clubs supporters do the random inflatable thing on the last away day now? Thought we were the only ones....

I seem to remember a 6ft penis bring one of the inflatables they wouldn't return at Blackburn or that may have been Hillsborough the season before.

To be fair, both times, the steward's were pretty tolerant.

Coventry the most miserable stewards, refusing to give anything back and bursting most of them.

Birmingham collected them all up and left them outside the away end to collect after the game!

Donny were pretty good the other year too.

Blackburn was amazing and the game 3-3......If I recall if we'd have scored just one more goal we'd have qualified for Europe !

What is the reasoning behind banning/confiscating inflatables?
By no stroke of the imagination can they be conceived as offensive weapons.

Two reasons according to the article:

BBC Two years ago Grimsby fans threw dozens of beach balls and blow up footballs onto the pitch at Barnet when both teams were in the Conference.

BBC After the last meeting between Barnet and Grimsby at The Hive two years ago one Mariners fan was found guilty of assaulting a football steward with an inflatable shark.

genuine

Norwich was a bit of an inflatable disappointment iirc. I'm pretty sure "We want our dalek back" has featured more than once, because I couldn't get to Blackburn, but I'm sure I've heard it. Possibly Norwich?... Donny were too friendly for it to be an issue. I remember Coventry being a horrible day, apart from the taxi ride to the ground trying to cram in us and the inflatables being quite funny. Wednesday the stewards were dicks too. Brum looked good from in with the Birmingham fans.

I did Watford a few years back. Didn't bring anything tbh.

Lost 3-0 which ruined the day somewhat.
