What if he scored the winner that ended up costing them automatic promotion though? I see you your point but there are ethical issues to it that I get from the other side too.

Yep good point. Questions would be asked and it would open up a whole can of worms.

Pretty sure he can play if both clubs have agreed to it, there is no set rule I don't believe see Mason Mount playing against Chelsea this year.

There is a rule against it in the league I believe.

In which case I stand corrected and wish I had further researched.

I thought that was a Premier League rule and did not apply to the Football League.

Which is kinda silly if you think about it, cos you can more of an influence in a one off game. You’d think it would be the other way round.

Finally got round to checking his stats on soccer base

28 Goals in 66 Champ starts apparently (additional 27 sub appearances)

That’s very good

Here is the official rule:

54.8

During the period of any Temporary Loan Transfer, a Player shall not play against his Transferor Club without the prior written permission of the Transferor Club (which, if given, must be indicated on the appropriate Temporary Loan Transfer form).

Essentially it is never going to be allowed to happen but not a rule.

So that follows what I said then. In the Championship they CAN play against their parent club (if both clubs agree) but in the Premier League it is not allowed regardless of what the clubs agree to.

Goal kicks having to leave the box, just don't get it.

Especially as it just gets retaken if it doesn't. Either scrap it, or give the opposition an indirect free-kick.

Complete agree with this - it happened in a tv game over the weekend. It’s a farce - defender realises goalkeeper has put him in trouble with a short pass so he jumps in to get it early and force the retake rather than coming under pressure from the attacker.

Actually enforce the rule about the goalkeeper having to release the ball from their hands within 6 seconds. Enforce it from minute 1 to 90. Apply the same rule to ground goal kicks. As soon as the keeper places the ball down they have 6 seconds to distribute it.

I don't think that is a law anymore, however I am happy to be proved wrong.

Is it really the ball having to leave the box? I always thought it was once the goal kick itself is taken. If it is the former then would agree that is utterly stupid.

But then why change that when they can fiddle about with the offside law a bit more.

Hound It’s as good as we could hoped for in our position. If it doesn’t work out, no real loss - can fall back on the other strikers we have. Definitely worth the gamble

Comes across as a bit of a pcunt in his interview. Quite like that, prob what we need

Which interview are you referring to? The one on ifollow sounded very standard to me.
