Reading have a tough task next Sunday 11th if they want to extend the 3 match unbeaten run. They play league leaders Chelsea away in a WSl match KO 6.45pm at Kingsmeadow Kingston upon Thames. The match is live on SKY Sports. One bonus for the Royals is that Chelsea have a difficult away Champions league match this Thursday 9th at Real Madrid.

The win against Spurs looked to be a really good performance, particularly given how the squad had been decimated by illness. They were only able to name 5 subs and it looked quite obvious that some of those playing weren't feeling too great.

Troelsgaard (why the hell did the commentator persist in calling her 'Trusselgard', despite Fara Williams sat alongside him pronouncing it correctly?!) was one of those and I thought put in a disappointing for a player of her calibre with lots of misplaced passes, yet still struggled through for the full 90 so credit to her for doing so.

It was good to see Emma Harries back and perhaps a surprise choice as captain for the game.

Fingers crossed they have a bigger squad to choose from in what will be a very tough game against Chelsea but fight is the one thing they're clearly not lacking.

0-3 down at half time, and in for expectant tonking, the girlies have currently pulled 2 goals back…fair play

Bearing in mind Chelsea’s first was offside this has been a cracking effort.

Decent effort - switched off at 3-0

Didn’t think the first goal was a foul as well as offside and thought Chelsea fouled a Reading defender on their second as well but guess that what happens when you’re up against the big girls

That was a very spirited and praiseworthy display from the women who also got a good amount of praise from the Sky coverage team.

Had the Assistant Ref not been even more asleep than our defence for the first (clearly offside) goal they might have well got the point that their performance fully deserved.

It was testament to that performance, and the threat going forwards that Reading were still displaying, that Chelsea decided it was best to keep the ball in our right hand defensive corner for the last five minutes, rather than trying to improve their goal difference as the pundits had earlier expected them to do.

Also noteworthy was that, despite the Chelsea team being crammed full with top international players, it was Emma Harries who picked up the Sky Player of The Match award.

Next up for the Royals is their last Conti cup group E match this Friday December 16th away at Coventry KO 7pm. The match is at the Butts Park Arena which has a 3g pitch. If the Royals can beat the bottom team in the Championship by a hatful of goals it will put pressure on Spurs who head the group to get a result at Southampton.

Beth England moving from Chelsea to Tottenham for a WSL record fee between British clubs and Jordan Nobbs joining Aston Villa just underlines how far above their own weight our women's team is having to punch with the situation getting worse each season when it comes to respective financial resources at their disposal.

The women's game is going exactly the same way as the men's with effectively a financially closed shop at the highest level, intended to keep riff-raff like Reading and other 'small clubs' away from the top table.

Agree - do the EFL restrictions also apply to the women's team or is it ring fenced from the numbers?
