At one time we had an excess number of midfielders. Now with Edwards, Meyler, Bacuna, Evans gone. Looking very lightweight.

Not good news at all...Any more injuries especially midfield or striker and we are in the shit big time.

survival chances have been dealt a blow after injuries to key duo Nelson Oliveira and Emiliano Martinez over the weekend.
The pair both picked up problems during the 2-1 victory over Ipswich Town at Portman Road.
Oliveira was substituted off early in the second half, while Martinez played the duration of the game despite picking up an injury in the warm-up.
Boss Jose Gomes confirmed post match that Oliveira had a hamstring issue, while Martinez had a calf problem.
Both players will be assessed to determine the extent of their injuries and how long they could be out for.
Oliveira's hamstring injury was the more serious and could see him miss the next month if it is more than just a strain.
The striker, who joined Royals on loan from Norwich City in January, has made a big impact in a Reading shirt and netted his third goal in six games at Ipswich.
It would represent a significant blow for Gomes if his star forward was to be sidelined, with key games against Wigan, Leeds and Preston all coming up at Madejski Stadium, as well as a trip to Stoke City before the international break at the end of the month.
Martinez played through the pain barrier in Suffolk and produced a man of the match display to ensure Royals ran out with all three points.
The Argentine was seen limping post match but will be hoping to recover in time for this Saturday's clash with Wigan.
Back-up shotstopper Sam Walker is ready to take Martinez's place if required.
Meanwhile, Jon Dadi Bodvarsson, Andy Rinomhota, Anssi Jaakkola and Sam Baldock are unlikely to return in the near future.
Bodvarsson, Jaakkola and Baldock are working on their rehab in the gym but are not yet training outside, while Rinomhota continues to wear a protective boot to protect his ankle.

Tbf none of that is really news, it’s just JLow speculating

I did think Bod was close-ish to a return (until he gets injured again 45 mins later). Be amazed if Martinez doesn’t play. Oli a huge loss and hopefully be back in a few weeks time

If Oli is out for a month he will miss 4 games, but we know with our track record it will be far longer than that. with 9 weeks to go in the season it`s possible he won`t be back.

If Martinez played the game then he's not injured. He will play against Wigan. Oliveira may be a different story but I think we will be OK putting Meite up top and bringing in Harriott.

A non-story. Fake news.

Oliveira out of Saturday's Wigan clash as well as following few games with a "significant hamstring injury"

Baldock, Bodvarsson, Ezatolahi, Rinomhota and Obita are also still absent. Goalkeeper news coming soon

Or a massive opportunity for Miete and Barrow to step up.
They are both capable of getting the goals.

did a quick google search on Ezatolohi and reminded me he first got injured in mid October, and the diagnosis was out for the next 3-5 games.

Now been 5 months and counting. Even by our standards, that's pretty impressive

The Pink 'un in Norwich is quoting a minimum of 4 weeks. So basically it'll be Hull or more likely Brentford before he has a chance of playing again.

Baldock is injured.
Bod is close but not yet known if Saturday is just too soon.

Let's hope Meite is both 100% fit and 100% well for the game as he has been playing while struggling on both counts this season.

How on earth can the parent fans' fanzine have any clue whatsoever as to when he is going to return?!

Yes it is. Oliveira really has been in the wars over these past few weeks. Let’s hope he is back after the international break.

Maybe they have spoken to him.
Maybe 5hey have asked a physio how long hamstring injuries take to heal.
Either way it’s hardly definitive.

Another issue with Ezatolohi is the restriction of loans in the matchday squad to 5. If he's not fit at any point whilst Oliveira is injured (assuming we see Oliveira before the end of the season) I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't play for us again. It doesn't help his case that Gomes won't have seen him in training either, let alone in a match.

And it gets worse. Ejaria with a probable groin strain further depletes the midfield options.

Rumour in the prawn sarnie area today is that Oliveira is unlikely to play for us again unless, of course, we sign him.
