Jackson Corner Well sometimes you don’t realise how crucial players are until they’ve left. In the case of Danny Williams he was outstanding during our play-off campaign. Following season we soon slumped to the bottom of the league and Stam Was sacked, even at the play-off final shed tears after losing the game which whatever way you look at it, At the very least it shows he cared about the club and the relationship he had with the fans.

You can’t blame him for joining Huddersfield a chance to play in the Premier League and more money. At the age of 32 I find it strange That he has retired from football unless the injuries have caught up with him. I wish him a happy retirement and every success in what he does.

He has a successful clothing line so he'll be OK

John Smith
URZZZZ
Hendo Thought he was a very important player for us and we certainly missed him when he left.

Scored a worldy goal at home against a team I can't quite remember (Charlton?).

Blackburn - Brian’s first game back in his second spell

Williams was OK - didn’t think he was as good as people thought and he didn’t work well with Norwood at all (with Norwood being the better player) so it always a conundrum there. Although much improved under Stam as he was one of a few players who tried to force the initiative with the ball

Wrong. Williams is definitely in the top 10 best players in the club's history.

Only if both our PL promotion sides never existed.

He might make top 10 defenders... but it would be tough competition

It isn't very clear from the official club statement but it almost sounds like a goodbye and good luck

Ah...that’s nicer

Great player
Great captain
Great spokesman for all of his clubs

I can only wish him all of the very best...brilliant RFC servant (nearly came to blows on the East Stand once upon a time, not everybody saw his contributions the same as I did)

Remember him being a part of that Wimbledon team who tore us apart 0-3 on Boxing Day.

Shame we didn't have him earlier in his career as he was excellent for us.

Always thought it was a shame he didn't score what would have been one of the great FA Cup goals against Liverpool, great run and then bottled the finish.

Yeh came on here to say this. But then he scored a very similar goal against Cardiff in the PO semi, albeit not quite as good.

Didn't manage to go to that game so watched it at a bar in Lincoln when I was at uni. I think I was the only Reading fan in there but I celebrated like crazy

Still haven't got over the fact I knew a guy who thought he was the worst winger we'd had for about 20 years.

Mad.

Yet when he was named Captain the majority criticised the appointment.
