Snowflake Royal Yes. Would mean a big squad again though. The bench should certainly be decent!

Rafael
Yiadom, Miazga, Moore, Blackett
Rinomhota, Pele
Meite, Swift, Barrow
Joao

Walker, Morrison, McIntyre, Adam, Boye, Novakovich, Olise/Loader/Baldock

Is that a suggested team for Hull or a theoretical XI for the season?

Theoretical xi for the season.

I see Boye as essentially pushing the forwards for their place and who ever is in better form on the pitch and in training playing.

You can say Boye hasn't arrived to sit on the bench, but equally, neither has Morrison or Miazga and Meite, Barrow and Moore aren't still here to just sit on the bench either. But some of them will have to.

I agree with in most senses I was just worried about your bench. No FB cover. Obviously it's not set in stone. Just interesting you put McIntyre in there over Richards/Howe.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Gomes go with 3 at the back away at Hull and possibly for future away fixtures.
It would mean our defensive weakness at left-back would not be so much of an issue.

Anyone else worried about the volume of rumours? Puscas, Ulloa, Joao, Pele, Rafael. Boye only joined last week.

It's hard to bring together so many diverse players and get them to gel quickly; it reminds me of our 15/16 season with Piazon, Ola John etc.

I'd stick with Joao, Pele and Rafael. All in positions with a clear need, doesn't overload the squad, leaves a path for academy products.

I'd imagine that Puscas and Ulloa are no more than speculation, absolutely no chance we're signing all of those players in the next 2 days.

If we get those three in that’s more than enough. Apart from the affordability issue I can see there being some seriously hacked off players being nowhere near the squad if we bring in too many.

There may be. But the point, for all clubs, is to get better and improve/upgrade the team/squad so as to give us the best chance to win games against other teams in the Champ. We haven't been doing that enough and have been in the bottom 5 too long, so maybe management see it as necessary. There often isn't much room for sentiment.

There has to be a balance. Not much point having an Academy if there is no pathway into the first team

Not really worried. To the contrary, actually. Could be a sign of them getting out there and being pro-active. Which, they need to be, given our recent history. The more leads and opportunities and networks they are exploring that could upgrade the team and make us more competitive and successful in this division, the better, imo.

Agree, there should be a balance, but not sure to what extent you can force the issue. We don't really know to what extent they happen to feel about the current youngsters with regard to challenging the other teams and being successful in the Champ this season. Pretty sure our opponents don't much care about our Academy at kickoff at 3pm on Saturdays. So yes, there are dilemmas, and a balance to consider, and prolly not always easy to find it.

As Hound says, Morrison can cover... maybe McIntyre.* Don't really rate Richards and think McIntyre is closer to first team than Howe or Watson..

It's an approach that has put us in the bottom few too long.

Bring in 12 overpriced underperformers who mostly fail. Then bring in another 12 without losing all the last lot.

Isn’t that pretty much what Blackett has done for the last three years?

Yeah - well in his case former centre back. Although the wing bit is a bit questionable for us in general. Defensively we're clearly playing a back four.

Blackett had played more senior games as a LB at that point in his career. Moore, Morrison and Miazga have probably played less than 10 games combined as a Wing Back.

Tbf 15/16 *could have been epic, we started really well and it was only when Steve Clarke and Fulhamg8 we started to be shit.
