Old Man Andrews Maybe some people just like to see their team win games of football and take the greatest cup competition in world football seriously Ian. The teams failure might suit your narrative but to the actual supporter of the club a cup run means a great deal.

We aren't in the Champions League mate.

The Champions League is the worst of all the competitions in football. A team who finished 4th place in a league can win the "greatest honour" in football? Nah not for me. The Champions League if they want to make it great should be a league of 12 Champions of the best leagues in Europe. Play eachother home and away over a season. Proper Competition, better matches.

Hear hear......a one off final game is hardly a league to decide champions.
Remember Liverpool 2005 winning it. 37 points behind United and finishing 8th!!!!!!! Champions of Europe LOL.
It's a money pit for those clubs and the more money, the less powerful and significant the rest of us become.
There's no doubt these "brands" will try for a European Super League. I hope so because we might get a more level playing field in the top division instead of about 5 different leagues in one division.
Personally the FA Cup winners should be in the CL. Being the cup winners of England where ALL teams compete and every club gets tough ties away under difficult conditions should carry the rewards. Problem is the snobby bastards up top don't want a Wigan or Portsmouth in it because they would rather have 4th place failures.

A further indication the Cup is diminishing in importance. Surely it has reached the stage where the unloved League Cup should be dumped leaving the FA Cup as the only Cup competition.

Klopp has said no senior players will be involved in their replay with Shrewsbury and he himself will not be at that game as he is having a break. That’s piss poor and disrespectful imo.

As much as I dislike Liverpool, the replay is in the winter break so it's on the FA.

Would like to avoid 1, 4, 6, 8, 10, 11, 12 away

Think we’ll get WBA at home for some reason, IIRC we used to draw them quite a lot

This.

Jürgen is respecting the wishes of the PL who apparently wrote to all its member clubs last year asking that they respect the break and do not arrange any games either competitive or friendly. Would imagine that’s why JK named the likes of Salah and Firmino on the bench so to try and get yesterday’s game done in one hit

Midweek trip to Pompey, Oxford, Saints or Spurs would do nicely.

IF we win the replay, does Bowen put out a full strength side for the next round?

Depends who we draw tonight. Although I would suggest it doesn't matter who it is, he won't be putting out the full strength XI.

As he said after the last round, it depends who we get drawn against.

Keep up Smithy, you Clown.
