Awful game. Poor performance. Don’t think either keeper has actually had anything to do. Not sure if Reading have actually managed to hit the target either.

Stranded Meite tackles Baldock whilst he was about to put Aluko through on goal.

Wouldn't have made any difference. It's Aluko.

Aluko there, opportunity to play in Ejaria. What does he do, try to dribble round someone for a 25 yard shot he puts straight into the defender.

Prick.

Swift free kick straight at keeper.

Ascotexgunner Since Bowen got that contract extension we seem to be getting worse.

Yep, total knee jerk reaction to a few wins by the owners. He is totally unproven, and there is going to be literally no one better than us queuing up to hand a contract to a guy in his first management job, with an expensive squad, that SHOULD be comfortably avoiding relegation. There was no viable reason whatsoever to hand him a contract that early. Wait ffs!!! The owners are behaving like bipolar fans, we got some wins quick give him a contract!! Now we'll have to pay a boat load more when we probably have to sack in 15 games into next season because the defense is still handing primary school level goals to the opposition in tight games.

Get an old fashioned, hard to beat, organized manager who will build from the back and weed out the garbage defensive errors that keep handing games to everyone. It's been needed for years now and it hasn't been stopped. Should have waited until the end of the season it is unbelievable that they have learned nothing from the last 3 to 4 years.

Yeah we are definitely massive playoff contenders aren't we.....

No chance of getting anywhere near them, lets have a great cup run.

Anyone care to discuss the point of bringing Aluko on?

Joao has proven a big loss. Let's hope we can get someone in before the end of the week to deputise.

Playoffs do feel a bit distant now but a strong mid-table showing would be a huge improvement on previous years.

Shit result, didn’t watch but seems we were poor up to the last 5 or so

Think we have to ditch the 1 up top. We just aren’t scoring goals since Joao got injured against any half decent side. That injury was obvs a huge blow which we’ve not properly recovered from

Whats the point of getting in the playoffs anyway? We'd just lose to Leeds in the final after they'd already won the league and come 2nd.

Wow

Wow all you like, we are 6 positions higher than when we sacked Gomes. There is plenty of the season left for us to keep gifting teams wins at the Madejski and fall right back in it. This isn't some cheaply built league one squad where he is overachieving in being 16th. There was absolutely no sense in giving a contract extension to a guy with plenty to prove based on a few wins. re-asses in the summer.

oxf*rd off are you lot trying to blame that on Aluko?
Actually thought he looked half decent when he came. Offered more than Ejaria who looked slow and ponderous all game and offered nothing. Controversially I'd drop Ejara to bench next week if we're going to play Swift and Olise.

He was extended for one year only which was thoroughly deserved for the form that we had shown since he took over

It wouldn’t cost a fortune to sack him next year. Our defence has improved immeasurably since he came in. And Gomes was taking us down

And it isn’t a particularly expensive squad either (I’m not counting Alukos hideous fee) - and we’re missing 2 of our better players in Joao and Yiadom

Now hopefully we can revise our expectations to “a work in progress” rather than “play off contenders”

Shouldn’t be expecting too much too soon from this squad. We’ve made some great progress in recent months and a good defence to build on
