Who was that "superfan" chap in the papers?

I remember seeing him without a top in the papers.

And why was he superfan. Because he took his top off and really wanted Reading to win games?

Another one I have in my mind was Mr Woo and then there was that jack Russell terrier who could control the ball really well. Both were around the early noughties at the Mad Stad. Anyone remember them?

Not sure if its the same guy but Oxford away the night we won 3-1 springs to mind. A few standing rows behind me and the old man. Jesus 20 years went by fast.

boycey That portly young chap that performed topless front flips vs Bradford gets my vote.

It was his first and last game.
Not sure which category you are nominating him in.....

He wasn’t even a Reading fan he just did as the game was live on BBC. Just a total knob.

We also have a new age type of moronic fan, those that appear on social media, we truly have some absolute shockers with some great standouts.

The Jack Russell was called Jake the Dog, the dog part was just his stage name.

Those were the days when we had proper halftime entertainment, not as good as the World Record highest abseil from a helicopter from what I remember being a Sea King helicopter onto the center circle or the time two Army choppers - A Lynx and a Gazzelle landed one on each half of the pitch to deliver the matchball without chopping the heads off of any supporters in the crowd.

We also had the ball delivered by a parachute team for the first MadStad game at home to Luton.

Now it's just kids taking penalties or some game with fans.

Amazingly, nothing found on the internet to prove this story about the sea king and the abseil into the ground. Nothing about the 2 helicopters either but I have a photo of that.

Haha yeah doesn't time fly.

The last time I saw us play Oxford away was under Taxi. We lost by that scoreline that night, or close to.

I remember Nige climbing up the fence in protest and the pigs weren't too happy.

My God, weren't the noise and the vibrations from the two copters absolutely hair-raising?! Brilliant.

And now we've got Sweet Caroline. Same as Oxford United.

Yep, the early years Mad Stad helicopters were absolutely superb. From memory, it was just a fan who also happened to be a member of the army at Arborfield Garrison who organised it all.

If it's 'Super Fan' then Blackie and his coat(s) has to be in the running. Not sure how he fits with the definition of 'charismatic' though.
Anyone for Uri 'I bend your spoon with my mind' Geller. Is it really true that he was invited to make a half-time team talk at Elm Park in the early / mid 90s? I am a bit too young to remember that. Only started watching us the season of the failed play-off final against Bolton in '95.
Rumour had it he stopped coming to Elm Park when the club made him pay for his and his families tickets. Lived in Sonning and was a millionaire!

Is that Ginger Nige? Who hung Around with the girl " Feret"? They were very close to my seat during the early mad stad years.

The big bald fan with his top off was around for a while, I think he was at Swindon away the night Cureton bagged the winner and Whitehead made that monster save.

It must be at least v4.
Story goes he saw someone at a game with the same coat and bought it from him because his was getting a bit ( ) shabby
