The football is returning excitement-ometer

by Simmops » 07 Jun 2020 22:22

How excited are you about the football coming back, and seeing Reading play and some sort of normality return?

At first I was against all football returning but this weekend has really got me looking forward to it more. I haven't missed it not being on but it's been long enough for me now to think it will be great to have it back (until we lose our first game )

How excited are you?

Have you really missed football much and what have you missed the most? I haven't THAT much and I think just soccer Saturday and the chatter on really I've missed.

What are you most looking forwards to? MOTD for me.

Have you replaced your usual football routine with something else? For me it is DIY and gardening/landscaping. Garden looks nice now!

Whole lot of meh. I fear it will be like when musicians release a couple of shit albums in quick successesion to fulfil their contractual obligations, although if Leeds fcuk it up again I will piss myself giddy with laughter.

Really not fussed.
Have said several times these games are pointless and not a genuine continuation of a long gone season.
Doubt I’ll watch any games and don’t even know when they are.
But I hope others enjoy the return and would prefer we win rather than lose.
Much more interested in getting some cricket, it’s the cricket season after all !

its a distraction and I'm so horrendously bored of Coronavirus news, anything to focus on that isn't that is welcome

Reading-wise - not that much to get excited about, but I'll enjoy seeing them play again hopefully. Be interesting to see what Bowen does with the team with everyone fit

Agree with the last bit. I hope he uses only players who will be here next season. Give McIntyre games instead of Mizaga, Rino ahead of Pele. Let Olise start regularly, if Holsgrove is back then get him involved.

Any opportunity to watch Reading is welcome, but given we've nothing to play for it's only passing interest for me.

Can't say I've particularly missed it, although if we hadn't been shit and badly run for years that might be different.

Also hoping to see Leeds choke, but fear that ship has sailed.

Can’t wait to get back to the over reaction on this board to every Reading game and finally finishing what will turn out to be a season that delivers what we mostly thought it would : mid table obscurity.

And as soon as it’s all over we can have another 6 weeks or so of no football while the club struggles its way through another transfer window before we all look forward to another season of who knows what.

Very excited - actually looking forward to the total feast of football. Once you get your head around no crowds, the actual package being sold is quite decent. A lot at stake for a lot of clubs, I think the country will get behind the return.

As for Reading, back to back wins and then perhaps 5 points off play offs - dare to dream!

Meh. Will probably watch some of the games. In the last few years the only thing I've enjoyed about going is the interaction with the people around me and obviously won't have that.

Hoping to catch some of the games now that access might be easier.

The one time in my life I'm not working and I can't go. Classic.

From Despair To Where? although if Leeds fcuk it up again I will piss myself giddy with laughter.

Disappointingly I think the break will have done them good. Their style of play looked like it had left them physically knackered towards the end of last season. They've had a few months to rest and recover so should be fine. Although even more laughable if it does go wrong now.

Unfortunately I agree. We can but hope though.

At least it will make a change from Covid and endless repeats. For Bowen a chance to use this as pre season and work on things for the future.

I’m looking forward to seeing the team play but we don’t really have much to play for. As has been said I enjoy the banter with fellow STH’s in the seats in and around me so it isn’t going to be the same.

Couldn't give a toss. Championship should have just finished as it is, nobody is going to touch the top 2. If anything just have a relegation playoff for the bottom 3 of the Championship and the top 3 in League 1.

The excitement probably goes beyond Reading for me. It'll be nice to watch us play and see how we finish, but ultimately we're staying in this division bar a miracle.

However, I'm looking forward to having the structure of football back, particularly when we still can't really socialise. Being able to watch sport at the weekend, discuss fantasy football with colleagues and hold out hope of Leeds bottling again will be great. And if we restart with 3 straight wins and start flirting with the playoffs then even better (but we won't).
