Ascotexgunner
CountryRoyal oxf*rd off QPR.

Yeah very late that.....still lol at Forest.
Seems the tips for the top like them and Cardiff don't look all that at the minute.

Forrest will turn it around. Shoe in for top 6 imho.

Agreed Ian. That was us at full strength today. The bench looked a little thin so work to be done but a great result. So good to see us off to a flier for a change.

Well, a couple home games now we should be winning, Luton in the EFL Cup and Barnsley in the league, time to see if we have shaken our poor home form.

I don't wanna get ahead of myself but we're definitely winning the Champions League in 2023

Sutekh Question. Was Reading’s last opening day win away from home 2-0 at Blackpool back in 2001 and how did Reading do that season?

Opening goal game from a corner and the second game from a breakaway as well, IIRC?

Happy with that. Good starting XI, good play all round.

Notes would be:

Swift is much better deeper based on that performance.

Joao should have been rested with 15 to go. He's too important to fanny about for no reason.

Laurent and Rinomhota will be some duo in midfield if they continue to play together.

Speaking of, Rinomhota was my MOTM. Excellent performance.

I reckon the commentary team noticed we all said they were shit last season, they actually commentate a bit today. Only one mention of Gunter.

Yep really need a win against Barnsley to kickstart some good home form which we’ve severely lacked in recent times.

Anyone think Olise needs to realise his right foot isn't just for standing on, especially playing on the right?

That was Bowen's team.............

There's a long way to go yet.

The signings to come have to be right.

I know we shouldn't get carried away, but opening day results often set the tone (granted Plymouth in 2005). Add in that this is Paunovic's 1st league game and the overall level of performance (2-0 flattered Derby) and today was big. Imagine a limp defeat after the chaos behind the scenes in the past month. I'd already be dreading the season. I'm not suggesting we're going up, but we have a good squad, more incomings rumoured and our new manager's opening match was as good as anything we've seen in the past few years. So I'm going to be positive.

Do you reckon?

They have been abysmal given the restart over the summer, and given the short turnaround I could see this form continuing.
