Got to give the kid a chance . I don’t think Southwood has shown that he is up to the required standard , but I have always thought this about Holmes as well , always thought he did his best but I’m not convinced it’s good enough .
Still want to see a new manager !

Will give the lad a chance - but we are bang in a relegation scrap, have no senior keepers on the books, surely should have been trying to get a Caballero/ Lee Grant type character in (I know wages likely prevented this).

Interesting to see if he goes straight in as #1 - Southwood certainly been making mistakes of late.

This is not a position where we should be putting the effort in recruiting players. If he was offered to us and the terms were fair then ok. But if we actively sought out him and Arsenal put in clauses - he isn't a player that has any proven quality.
41 goals conceded in 26 games at u23 level suggest he is not a world beater in the making. Happy to be proven wrong though.

Yes, because the goal keeper position is exactly the cause of all our woes!

Looks like he will be coming in to play as #1

Well glad to see the club proving they're still utterly clueless.

windermereROYAL 6 foot 4 inches, big lad.

If size is the factor why not give Andressen a go. Also 6-4 and much more experienced than Hein. We recalled him from loan and he has now completely disappeared I can only think he has joined the list of the always injured.

Silly me that would mean the super agent couldn’t get his big fee.

One outstanding save here, the rest you would expect any decent keeper to make.

Southwood isn't as solid as we want to believe. Several errors made.

Hein's clearly not just backup as we already have Andresson so will displace Southwood. While Hein may be another Virginia, he may also be decent so I'm up for this except not sure why we're not trying Andresson rather than getting another relatively unproven lad in.

We recalled him because he'd dropped down to third choice at Morecambe

It’s a high risk signing. I would keep faith with Southwood for now but another costly error and it’s time for this guy to start. He may well be coming in as the number one anyway.

Maybe so but he still has 50 + league games under his belt as compared to Hein’s 0.

AthleticoSpizz Awwwe, we’ll take any glimmer of positivity right now.

One word, Martinez… :D

I get that side if it but the difference is Martinez had played a lot of first team league football before joining us, was a lot older too.
I wouldn't have been against an experienced keeper coming in but for us to sign a 19 year old kid on loan fills me with dread.

Southwood has made a lot of errors of late, we are bang in a relegation battle and last thing we need is costly keeper errors. Club/ Pauno clearly felt this was an area that needs addressing for the run-in. So I wouldn't call that clueless at all. One question mark would be around whether we should have got an experienced keeper or not but FFP could have scuppered that and this guy is very well thought of.

Millsy Southwood isn't as solid as we want to make ourselves believe he is. Several errors made.

My only confusion is if we're worried about Southwood's form why not try Andresson rather than get another relatively unproven lad in.

I bet Southwood has had to deal with a significantly more shots than any other keeper in the league. Significantly more looping crosses. Plus we put 10 men up against him for corners / freekicks on top of what ever the opposition throw in too. He has become a target for the opposition.
Yes a few costly mistakes but probably saved more than he should have.

By who? You mean the parent club bigging up the player they are flogging?

If this kid comes in and costs us in his first game he's done for. To replace Southwood he will have to be faultless in order to win the supporters over. Replacing our academy graduate goalkeeper won't go down well at all.
