Predict the Championship table 22/23

by Snowflake Royal » 23 May 2022 19:43

From Rivals thread.

Predict the Championship table competition. Rules:
5 points for the exact position
3 points for within +/- 1 position
1 point for within +/- 2 positions
-1 point per position beyond 3 you are out by*

+2 points for each team you correctly predict being promoted (+4 if you correctly predicted them as Champions)
+2 points for each relegation team you have in the bottom 3

Two predictions possible, an early one by 13 June and another once we actually know a bit more, by 30 July

I'll take the entries from Pepe and YR, but feel free to change them if you want up to 13th.
Mine for example:
1 Watford
2 Sheff Utd
---------------------------
3 Middlesbrough P
4 West Brom
5 Sunderland
6 Norwich
--------------------------
7 QPR
8 Swansea
9 Burnley
10 Blackburn
11 Preston
12 Coventry
13 Huddersfield / Forest
14 Millwall
15 Wigan
16 Luton
17 Blackpool
18 Stoke
19 Cardiff
20 Reading
21 Rotherham
------------------------
22 Birmingham
23 Hull
24 Bristol C

Yes, this should be in competitions, it'll quickly fall down the board.

You'd better get involved after your lip Hound and Zip

No. Far too swingy getting one spot on.

Far too much effort to score.

So before the transfer window closes on Sept 1st? We won't *really* know more until then.

When Reading swoop for Messi and Mbappe on 30th August that'll mess up my predictions.

Yes, because the season starts on 30 July, so half a dozen games will already be played by the time the window closes.

Of course. But transfers in August are still likely to have a massive impact on the other 88% of the season so no-one can validly finalise predictions until 2nd Sept.

The competition has to be closed before the season begins, it is just common sense.

Maybe we should set the deadline as 1 February when both transfer windows are finished.

Deadline is season start so everyone is predicting from before a ball is kicked.

Can there be a blanket ban on DD entering? Just think it would be funny.

Dirk is trying and OMA is giving it some gentle probing, Houndy.

As your benevolent competition dictator, I will not be banning DD from entering.

I think it is a great idea on paper, not sure why there hasn't been this sort of thing over the past few seasons.

Just please don't go all Snowball on us.

A good idea and I’ll be taking part. I reckon Bruce and WBA will be a good bet for automatic promotion.

With Ron Gourlay there chucking money around willy nilly it is certainly a possibility.

I can assure you, there will be no formatting requirements for extra points just so I can wave my willy around and get drunk on power, making the whole thing pointless.

Post it up here, or in competitions. In whatever order you want, using whatever names you want for the clubs. And I'll try to work it out

Yeah, but chucking money at what. More overpaid below averageness?

As a side issue. Congrats to Norwich and Watford for winning promotion to the PL for 22/23.
Let's face it as sh*t as they have both been they still have squads better than nearly every team in the championship.

Yep, expect both to be right up there. Also, just maybe Sunderland if they can recruit well.
