Hound Done alright. Brighton obviously a decent side unfortunately but thought we’ve defended well. They haven’t created too much considering

Struggling to get hold of the ball and Brighton close done very quickly

Still it’s basically their first 11 and we’re still in it. Be nice to create a few chances at least though

We have defended pretty well but our midfield has been thoroughly outplayed. We need to be pressing a lot more.

Just reminds me of last season, constantly giving the ball away and inability to pass. Brighton top team, but still looks an indication of the season ahead which is going to be one hell of a struggle unfortunately

We’ve defended well but being totally outclassed and we can’t keep hold of the ball. It’s not a surprise as Brighton have fielded a strong starting 11 and they’ve a left wing back valued at £50m and he does look quality. All in all a good workout so far.

Agree.Ejaria has given the ball away on a number of occasions in really dangerous positions. Hendrick has been a passenger, Fornah’s passing has been poor. Our midfield have to be a lot better than this v Blackpool.

Not sure we’ll come up against many teams of Brighton’s quality next season.

Agree about Ejaria and hopefully Blackpool won’t pose so many problems to our midfield.

Still want to see Reading pose some threats though rather than not really getting anywhere and chasing shadows for 90 minutes

Is this Brighton commentary? Knows the name of every one of their players and we get - cut out by Reading

Who scored Reading’s goal?

By the way it’s good to hear Shane Long is injured and even better now that Joao seems to have gone off after just a short spell on.

This absolutely shit. We are giving the ball away every time we get it.

2nd half reasonably encouraging. Looked fit, kept going and produced a bit more going forwards

Defended very well - did Lumley make a save second half? Despite all their possession they never really looked like breaking through

Concerns mainly the midfield didn’t cope with the pressing at all well - but tbf Brighton are very good at it. Joao going off with injury.

Thought Meite did ok on limited service, Hoilett and the trialist did well at LWB. Quite like the shape. All 3 CBs did well

Very good workout before next week and not the thrashing I feared first half to wreck confidence

Boys looked fit.

Ball retention needs working on and improved final ball behind defenders.

Reality check that is brighton who picked up top quarter most points await last season.

Look more solid defensively but need more of a attacking instinct.

Again, where we were last season and players released, we have given ourselves a chance.

The second half was better. Very concerning to see Joao going off. With Long out it just has that horrible feel of last season.

Ejaria awful again, Ince mainly anonymous, Holmes headless chicken, negative tactics, strong Brighton team, not sure what to think, but we can't start the season sitting back we need to attack, two up top ffs

Not a great performance but I think a lot of our problems stemmed from Brighton pressing us quickly and denying us time and space. I don't think many teams in the Championship will press us with that much intensity or quality.
