Agreed but Ince sets us up not to lose so will persist with the formation.

Ince hinted today that he may revert back to a favored 4-3-3 formation as soon as his big hitters in defense are back and fit, thus making us a bit more creative!! Music to my ears this :D :D

Maybe something like this:

Lumley

Yids Holmes Sarr Babba

Fornah Hutchinson Hendrick

Meite Carroll Ince

You are aware that we are 8th? It can’t be that bad a formation. There was a period where it looked a little stale but it’s done us good on the whole. That team looks remarkably similar to the last few seasons’ failures of being too narrow (Ince and Meite would spent a fair portion of the game tucked in)

Also, you’re aware that team is virtually the exact same as what we’ve been doing, with the exception of Hutch pushing up. I’d question how that makes us more creative. Infact losing Hoilett would probably reduce how much we create

Trust me i hear you, 8th is amazing it really is, however, we have players playing out of their natural position such as Yids, Hoilett, Meite and maybe Ince
I'm sure Hoilett would prefer to be playing further up the pitch, and the same will go for yids as a right back. We all know Meite is best playing as a right inside forward and not up top by himself or in a pairing.
3-5-2 has served us well and given us a foundation to survive this league this season which was the goal, however, moving forward i believe 3-5-2 is not the answer and is certainly not P.Ince's preferred formation.
Football is also about getting people in the stadium, yes we won on Saturday playing three at the back, however, it wasn't pretty and personally i found it pretty boring to watch getting outplayed all over the pitch by a very good Coventry side who on another day would have tore us to shreds!!

Royals and Racers Can see both starting on Friday- TMac and Sarr.

I think TMac will be on the bench with Sarr, Mbengue and Yids as the back three.

We could lose Sarr, Mbengue and McIntyre through injury and Ince would still persist on a back three of Fornah, Meite and Carroll lol!!!! I'm so over this back three lark...
None of our two up top pairings seem to work together and we have no attacking threat whatsoever...change to a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 please, please!!!!!

It’s horrible being this bad compared to the previous few seasons and with the current restrictions

Just think how good we will be when Ince "gets it right", people playing in their positions and we perform to the levels people want!

Only a basic news article without any quotes etc but chronicle thinks Dann, Hutchinson and obvs Holmes back for Swansea. Assuming Ovie is there or thereabouts as well - it’s only Moore currently injured from the first team squad

Some tough decisions for ince to make coming up. Genuinely tough as tbh most of the squad are about the same level, not an obvious first 11 etc

Glad to hear it seems Holmes wasn’t anything much worse than a bit of concussion watch.

Seems like an opportune moment for a thread on what our best XI is with a miraculous near everyone fit.

5/6 days of training to survive yet though.

Paul Ince said after the game yesterday that Fornah was injured in an 8 a side in training on Monday after clashing with Femi Azeez and his knee has come up like a balloon and is expected to be out for a couple of weeks.

That couple of weeks will end up being a couple of months.

I think we're seeing Azeez's problem here.... not only injuring himself, but now others... perhaps needs to considering a Catholic approach to tackles and challenges in training and pull out.

Got him a place in the squad though didn’t it :)

Thought he should have come on for Meite rather than Baba

Rahman should only be the answer if NGW and Hoilett are unavailable.

Didn’t get the thinking at all, wasn’t McIntyre playing “left back” when NGW and Rahman were both fit and available. While I can understand Rahman being rested given his less than stellar performances I don’t understand why NGW wasn’t the first choice to replace him.

Also, Fornah has a swollen knee plus Hoilett came off injured today.

Think Hoilett has been pretty poor/tired since the WC. Wouldn’t be disappointed to see him have a few weeks off

If Tetek was a horse, he'd be glue by now, poor bastard.

With Sarr, Dann, Holmes, Hutchinson, Mbengue, Abbey, Yids and McIntyre who all play as CB then this latest set back really isn't an issue...and i really think that'll be the last we ever see him in a Reading shirt.
Lets face it, i would like to think we are right on or past the 50 point mark by the time he returns and what sense would it make in playing him when he's off!!
Thanks for the errrr memories :D :D
