Snowflake RoyalSCIAG On one hand, yes, at first glance this looks awful and I’m not in a position to say why it is happening. Some of it is probably down to the players having fragile bodies but without inside knowledge it’s very hard to say.
Does seem strange that the club is being implicitly criticised for things like Abbey being knocked out in an U23 game. That’s not something any medical team can control.
Who is implicitly criticising for that?
There's 8 other injuries to focus on and you bring up the one clear bad luck example.
Moore is a clear example of bad luck given he was injured playing for another club.
Four of the players have long injury records dating back to before we signed them - Joao, Dann, Hutchinson and Long. At least two of those players weren’t fit when we signed them and Long hasn’t been match fit at any point.
That leaves… Azeez and Tetek? Plus the mystery injuries?
When you group them all together as “eight injuries” it sounds awful, but when that includes an academy player who was knocked out, a player who was injured playing for another club, and three or four players who we signed knowing full well they’d often be injured, it paints a slightly different picture.
As for other clubs - Liverpool have eight players out injured, Leicester have seven, Leeds and Everton both have six (discounting suspensions and u23s). Every list I could find for the Championship only had us on two injuries, Joao and Dann, so I don’t trust them to be accurate about other clubs. That said, according to local news Sheffield United seem to be without Oli McBurnie, Chris Basham, Tommy Doyle, Jack Robinson, Adam Davies, Jack O’Connell, Enda Stevens, and Jayden Bogle. So at least two other clubs have eight senior players injured.
