First Game

Who would you like us to get? I know we play everyone twice but first games are always different. Personally I have no preference but would rather get our most winnable games when we have made all our signings.

I think we'll likely be at home first due to timing of the bank holiday weekend. So I'll predict Bristol City at home, followed by Hull away.

I'm very convinced a good start will shape the season, so hopefully a favourable first month.

I believe we need to be at home because we need to be away Festival weekend, it`s rare to have consecutive weekend away games that early in the season, so i will go Stoke Home.

I'd like a winnable home fixture. Preston, Bristol City, Wigan etc at home would be something I'd be in favour of. No doubt we would end up getting turned over but, if we don't, a win could easily set the tone.

Sadly we can't play Reading at home.

Depends how may games they are planning to cram into August - 2 rounds of the League Cup are filling 2 midweeks but they may stick a round of games in on the 16/17 August midweek.

I think we'll be away as the festival weekend will be the 5th round of games. So 30th a, 6th H, 13th a, 20th H, 27th a.

If the 17th is a round of games, that would likely be at home.

One thing it shows it is key to get signings in asap, as if we are still scrambling around on deadline day, we'll already have had over 10% of the season played.

Anyway, I'm going for Burnley (a) live on Sky on the Friday night.

Actually, I think we're the only team who can. Something to do with us being the royal country, IIRC.

It rained so much we were wondering if the game would go ahead or not. It did and saw Parky's last goal for the club.

We got tonked there last season and our squad is weaker so I'm not expecting much.

Although the scoreline did flatter them, it looked like we were going to get back into it before the disastrous end.

Really?, what about our first game in the record-breaking season 2005/6 a home defeat to Plymouth Argyle.

We then won the next 3, that is what some, myself included, would call a good start.

It's what anyone would call a great start. And we played pretty well against Plymouth, only losing to a 90th minute sucker punch.
