Zip Meh. It’s all about avoiding relegation.

Cup competition progression generates revenue. Smaller the revenue the lower the playing budget. Spiral downwards needs to be broken.

9 Championship clubs played lower league sides tonight.

All lost their ties.

We have an injury crisis. Simply not enough fit senior players.
The weather is very hot. Saturday is winnable. I care far more about that game than tonight.
Besides it gives the management a chance to see which Academy boys can make the step up.

From twitter

Nine Championship clubs faced lower-league opposition in the EFL Cup tonight. Remarkably, all nine lost.

League Cup is a dead competition especially for Champ clubs. Not going to win it and likely lose as in R2 or 3 v a PL reserve side.

Very little money in the League Cup unless you draw a massive club.

Yes but we must fold the club immediately. Those academy boys should be put in stocks outside the Oracle tomorrow.

Enjoyed the second half more than the first. Clarke and Camara made a big difference

Liked both Clarke and Ehib, Ehib should have scored a second just before they did. Camara looked very tidy. Abrefa did ok

Thought Leavy, Clarke (though did better second half), Holzman, Tuma all looked a way off tbh. Potential there but looked 18

Fornah was a bit meh, Loum faded second half but looks a player. Bouzanis didn’t fill me with confidence

Think that about covers it

Stevenage just a standard div 2 bunch. Had a decent CB.

Ref gave them a lot. Thought we should have had a pen at the end

Sack the board, fold the club and don't even bother starting a phoenix.

Stick a fork in the club, I think we're done.

Are the oxf*rd meltdowns on here serious or just people having a laugh? I never like to see us lose but we can’t afford to pick up anymore injuries to first team players.

Someone mentioned on Twitter that Moore was watching the game tonight, hopefully, to say goodbye (wishful thinking).

Last time we lost to Stevenage at home, in a cup, by a single goal, we won the league.

Just saying.

In this case, understandable. But winning and success breeds winning and success. And our recent cup record is atrocious. We won't learn much about the Academy players chucking them out en masse in games we seem to have no interest in winning, either.

It's not that long ago we made the QFs of the FA Cup semi regularly. In a difficult season ahead, something to cheer about is required.
