NO LONGER A RUMOUR: Jimmy Kebe SIGNS

by Friday's Child » 16 Jan 2008 12:26

Lens' Jimmy Kebe is hoping Boulogne-sur-Mer will relent and allow him to join Reading this month.

The 23-year-old midfielder is on loan at Boulogne and they are attempting to block his proposed switch to The Premier League, even if a deal has been agreed with his parent club Lens.

"I did not expect an offer like this one so early," the Mali international told football 365.fr. "I went to see the coach [Steve Coppell] directly to speak to him about it.

"Apparently, they do not like that too much in Boulogne.

"I want to leave, it is clear. The club made me understand their will to keep me and I am well here in Boulogne. But I have this opportunity and I really believe that it is my chance.

"I thought that Reading were going to agree with Lens and everything would be processed.

"I always dreamed of going to England. It's an opportunity I've got to seize to play against clubs like Arsenal or Manchester United. It's the chance of my life and can only be beneficial for my development.

"I would have the possibility there of playing on Saturday against Manchester United! Rather than watching it on the telly, I can at least be on the bench.

"I had several offers but the coaches did not call me. There, the coach of Reading, Steve Coppell, invited me over and told me he wanted me.

"Obviously it is flattering."

Sounds pretty near to completion

Is he the type of midfielder that can play just behind the strikers and out on the right if need be? :?

Have also checked him out but can't find too much other than this link

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jimmy_K%C3%A9b%C3%A9

It's confused the hell out of me as it states he is a defender and a striker on the same page. Add that to the above statement of being a defender. He is either a very good all round player or he may well be a George Weah recommendation :?

As long as he can play out wide on the right or left and fill in in the hole, I'd be up for this.

This has been reported as a done deal in France (football365.fr), and that he's a forward.

No one has asked the vital and telling question:

Is he any good in CM/FM?

I still am not quite sure whats happening here, it now looks as though we are signing two more centre midfield type players ?? havent we got a lot of those already ? who are struggling to be good enough for the prem, obviously Hunt and Harper apart, but still no sign of a defensive new arrival to put pressure on our fualtless back four ?

perhaps cisse is being lined up as centre back, he is tall, quick, athletic, and defensively good.

with sonks and bikey hopefully getting some fitness and confidence at the ACN, ivar his usual self and doobs to ably fill in, plus pearce and bennett
that would leave us ok defensively in my eyes,

central midfield of harps, matejovsky, udo??!!, gunnarson, fae with bikey and cisse able to play the defensive role too, id be quite happy with that too

just the right wing that need sorting now, or is cox and henry in support of oster and little ok?

I'd suggest that at the end of the season or before we should be looking to get shot of the following players, who seem to be past it at this level;

Oster
Gunnar
Murty
Ingi

With Dela and Marcus not far off.

With Little by no means assured of being able to play at his previous level and question marks over the ability of Fae, Sonko, Bennet, Sodje, Convey and Cisse to play at Premiership level.

Long looks like he needs games at Championship level to work on his awareness, as I expect do Cox (should he not go to the swine) and Henry.

Oddly it sounds like we've got directly to the player without permission from the club.

Hardly 'the Reading way.' I'm guessing that it's probably just a bit lost in translation.

Why do we keep signing average players who can fill a number of different positions.

You need specialist players in set positions.
