Shane Long......

by A1ndy » 15 Mar 2008 18:13

Dont know if this has been mentioned anywhere else but thought it deserved its own thread.

Shane Long throwing his shirt in the direction of Steve Coppell after being substituted today... According to the BBC website match report...

Thats not like him, and might mean a fall out with coppell as a result....

Probably angry with himself. He hasnt the ego to take on the Manager.

Frustration at events within the game rather than with the manager's decision, I think.

Definitely. Coppell made sure he was taken off before he was sent off.

Coppell said it was because he was pissed off that the lino hadn't given a descision all afternoon. He wasn't happy though, Coppell said he'd 'had a word' and
"it won't happen again, i've told him that."
When asked if further action would be taken against Long he just said "It won't happen again," again, which says to me that Doyle/Kitson will start the next match.

It was a change that was needed.
He can't blame Coppell for doing the right thing.
In my view Kitson should of started.

was pretty disgusted to see our Shirt lying crumpled on the side of the pitch - Long is bang out of order and Coppell was quick to have a go at the lad, am awaiting an apology...

I think the result and the shirt throw is exactly what RFC and Dave Kitson needed.

Coppell doesnt change a winning team, hence the inclusion of Long today (and the fact he played well and scored against Citeh)

With the defeat and Long's shirt throw it is just the reasons that Copp's can start with Kitson next week, which is exactly what is needed.

Don't get me wrong, althoug I am not a great Long fan, he was good last week and didnt get 1 decision his way today, but Kits is what we need at this stage of the season.

BBC Berks stated that he threw it in frustration at the linesman, who incidentally had been spotted singing along to You'll Never Walk Alone before the match.

Bit of a nothing incident IMO, Long pissed off at linesman throws his shirt down in frustration when brought off. No offence to the shirt meant. Stroppy behaviour that has been told off.

No harm done. 50/50 between him and Kitson starting the next game IMO.

No player should ever throw a shirt down however angry he is.

No player should ever commit a foul, no player should give lip to the officials. It happens all the time though.

Rush of blood to the head. Shows he cares and he's been properly told off. "incident" over.

I dont know many angry goal scorers ??

It is an unwritten rule, a bit like not shagging your sister in law.
