Fans of other clubs expectations of Reading this season

by Arnie_Pie » 24 Jul 2008 20:55

I was just perusing BBC60sh*t and it appears that there is a big expectation from fans of other clubs that we will get promoted this season. Admittedly Birmingham seem to get the most votes but we are second. Is it because they know less than us, or is it my expected answer that the majority on here are just all pessimists :?:

A bit of both.
I'm pretty sure they all have no idea Shorey's on his way, Little's left and Harps is about to be sold for 5mil to M'Boro.

Although most people on this 'site are pessimist. :D

Little going was a bit of a blow but £5.5m for Kitson is a very good bit of business!

If Harper goes for £5m that is also good business and let's be honest, Shorey has been going for ages!

I suppose this thread is a call for a bit more positivity about this season as it all seems far too negative for my liking.

This 606 thread is making me smile.
So many people are saying Reading.
It's a complete contrast to HNA.

Arnie_Pie Harps is about to be sold for 5mil to M'Boro.

That won't happen, cos they'll have to refund me my season ticket.

In all seriousness, £10.5million for Harper and Kitson is abolutely stupid money. They are two good honest players who have done well here but that would be stunning business. Of course we aren't going to see all of that money but in basic terms of the fees paid out by the buying clubs, cracking business for Reading.

It just shows how much teams rated us and our players last year.

It also shows that we actually did a pretty good job in the premiership.

And for all those Hammond knockers he seems to be able to negotiate a deal!

Wait and see what our ex-players do next season, then we'll see whether it was good business for us, the player, their new club, or a combination of all three!

That wouldn't affect anything (Little) seeing as nobody knew him because he was injured for our prem seasons

Not a terrible shout bearing in mind some of the crap that will be on show last year. You're in Notts aren't you. I lived there for five years, moving back last September and was able to see some of their promotion winning season and they were truely awful. As much width as a postage stamp!

Yeh the standard is poor. Yeh im from Long Eaton. I honestly think it could be a 2-3 nil cruise against Forest on the opening game. There is so much difference in quality.

I remember thinking exactly the same at Wrexham in August 1998. :|

Good business, certainly, but in the context of our prospects we need to replace them if we're to be favoured for promotion.

Yes, I agree with armchair 606 fans who probably saw us play two or three times on TV all last season - they clearly know RFC better than me seeing as I only saw 38 games last season, which is nowhere near enough for me to judge...

It's not negativity and hatred, it's a concern that the club is being run into the ground by a manager with a lack of ambition and drive.
