Cureton Back Saturday

by Focher » 02 Dec 2008 15:52

Got a feeling he's gonna score against us Saturday.

Still scored probably the most important goal in the last 10 years for Reading, and for that im sure we will let him off if he does.

Curo must be a late developer.

Bit like Sidwell having to resign himself to sitting on the bench at Villa. Cos he's just a "greedy bollox".

I seem to remember that he said with some hindsight that he regretted going to Korea and could have stayed as Pardew had buggered off shortly into the new season!

And don't forget the fact that Pardew sold Cureton's favourite strike partner Butler off during the summer - which meant we didn't have much of a strike force, Goater, Forster and who else?

As adequate back up we had Savage and Morgan ...................................

Let's be honest, by that time Butler was shit. He was never the same after his injury

You could argue it was before, his goalscoring record in the 01/02 campaign up to his injury didn't exactly set the world alight.

Though he did score at Northampton away which was probably a small turning point in the season with Kev Watson & John Salako making their RFC debuts 8)

I'm sure Coppell brought in Morgan, not Pardew.

H&P, you're probably right in that Butler never was going to reproduce his great form from a couple of seasons back.

Except Tyson was played more as a winger than striker back then.

I think he was a bit of both, that he do either role if necessary, much in the same way Rougier was used.

Will give him a hearty cheer on Saturday, one of my favourite RFC players of recent times.
If he looks dangerous shout "JACKS!" he will love it

Perhaps we can change the 12 days of Christmas to to Jamie Cureton for one game.

I'll get my coat....
