Stranded You have to earn that chance, in the eyes of the only people that matter, the RFC management team, he hasn't done quite enough in his time here as he is still just a sub at best in their eyes.

It doesn't matter how many stats are put down this is the only fact that matters.

And that combination of actually seeming to chase for the result and go for a win could have worked if it wasn't such a comedy of errors. We put real pressure on PNE defense but we never produced the end result. A couple of times now a RFC win coulsd had seriously closed the gap on Wolves and opened up a gap on Brum but today it was not to happen. It's another opportuninty missed, but one day we will get the rub of the green.

Despite the so-called "Mighty" Cardiff and the genuinely brilliant Swansea
and contrary to the opinions of some miserable sods on this list Reading have improved
their position against ALL of their rivals since 25 November when they were a full
twelve points behind Wolves without a game in hand.

25 November, 10 weeks ago

19 8 0 1 21 08 7 1 2 23 17 +19 46 WOLVES (Reading 8 points closer plus game in hand)
19 8 0 2 14 06 4 4 1 13 10 +11 40 BRUM (Reading gained 8 points on Birmingham))
19 7 1 1 25 06 3 3 4 16 14 +21 34 READING
19 5 3 2 13 07 4 1 4 13 09 +10 31 SHEFFIELD (Reading gained 5 points on Sheffield)
19 5 3 1 12 07 3 3 4 13 17 +01 30 BURNLEY (Reading have gained 8 points on Burnley)
19 5 3 2 16 11 2 5 2 08 08 +05 29 CARDIFF (Reading have gained 3 points on Cardiff) (CARDIFF GAMES IN HAND)
19 4 2 3 14 11 4 3 3 09 10 +02 29 PLYMOUTH (Reading have gained NINETEEN points on Plymouth)
19 4 4 1 17 09 3 3 4 10 15 +03 28 SWANSEA (reading have gain 5 points on Swansea)
19 6 0 3 15 12 2 4 4 12 14 +01 28 PRESTON (Reading have gained 3 points on Preston
19 7 1 2 16 09 1 3 5 02 11 -02 28 QPR (Reading have gained 3 points on QPR)

So we talk about "dangerous" Cardiff and the looming threat of Swansea

BUT WHILE THEY HAVE BEEN ENJOYING GOOD RUNS, WE'VE NOT DONE BAD.

10 GAMES 22 POINTS 2.2 PER GAME CARDIFF
12 GAMES 25 POINTS 2.1 PER GAME READING
12 GAMES 20 POINTS 1.7 PER GAME SWANSEA
13 GAMES 22 POINTS 1.7 PER GAME PRESTON
13 GAMES 20 POINTS 1.5 PER GAME SHEFFIELD
12 GAMES 17 POINTS 1.4 PER GAME BIRMINGHAM
12 GAMES 17 POINTS 1.4 PER GAME BURNLEY
13 GAMES 17 POINTS 1.3 PER GAME WOLVERHAMPTON

IF this continued to the end of the season

92 READING
89 CARDIFF
84 WOLVES
78 BIRMINGHAM
76 PRESTON
74 SWANSEA
72 SHEFFIELD
68 BURNLEY

Woodcote Royal Their are idiots and then are moderators who should have faced a Court Martial years ago (and I'm referring to you and no one else)

Your obsession with me is rather bewildering. It's a bit sad really.

Anywho, Lita played far better than Doyle and indeed forced the keeper into making a really good save in the first half. Those are the sort of balls Lita thrives on, I presume Coppell was obviously wrong and blind to the game in leaving Leroy on and subbing the ineffective Doyle today. Nice to see Shane proving his worth with yet another substitute appearance

Man Friday How was Leroy today? Would NHunt have done better? Would Shane have done better?

NHunt would have done far better. Long wouldn't have done worse, except maybe from the free kick, which wasn't that good anyway.

What a complete and utter load of rollox. Lita made their keeper produce the best save of the game, produced numerous good flick ons and passes and a great cross in the first half when he skinned a defender down the left and unselfishly pulled the ball back into the area rather than going for goal from a tight angle. Long came on, got set free down the right by a great ball from Marek and with plenty of time and space blasted a cross way beyond the far post when there were team mates in great positions given the right ball.

Those who don't rate Lita make themselves look a little stupid when they refuse to recognise that he was our biggest threat against Preston.

That was the truely outstanding moment of the game, not the finish from Lita, but the fantastic through ball from Doyle, played on the volley and if the likes of Rooney had played that the media wouldve been wetting themselves over it

Two goals in two seasons, still remains the goal-count

Lita 2 x 90 minutes = 2 x Nil-Nil

He's nothing like the quality of Noel Hunt

Not as good a worker,
Not as good in terms of tackling and support,
Not as good in terms of shots, or goals, or assists

Meanwhile Torres and Ronaldo have still failed to score for Reading. They have, however, scored elsewhere but, apparently, these don't count.

and "we need to score more goals"

Last 13 league games

19 Goals (08 conceded) 26 Points READING
24 Goals (12 conceded) 24 Points CARDIFF
20 Goals (17 conceded) 20 Points WOLVES

We are playing tighter, more defensively, safer, and DESPITE SCORING LESS GOALS
than our two rivals, WE ARE GATHERING MORE POINTS.

Bearing in mind you usually need to score more than two goals to win a game, how many times Since Christmas have we scored one than just a solitary goal?

I make it only the once in 8 games!

Thats not good enough

No they DON'T count.

I'm aware of Reading players scoring for other clubs
BUT I ONLY CARE ABOUT WHAT THEY DO FOR READING.

Some players just don't quite fit. Robbie Keane?

Look at the facts. For reading, last three seasons 7 goals, 1 goal, 1 goal

If Lita had score 16 in 16 for Norwich but we didn't score here when he played
(because he doesn't fit, or whatever) then don't play him.

15 Starts 7 as sub 2 goals in two seasons

We are second in the league.

Over the last 12/13 games we are gathering more points than Wolves, Cardiff, Birmingham, etc.

So exactly WHY isn't it good enough

But we have a great defence 8 conceded in 13.

15 games to go.

We score 15 and concede nil that's 104 points

Would you complain then?

Some sides win 4-2, some win 1-0... what matters is POINTS

Because since Christmas we've won two unconvincing games, one of which was a still a good result against our main challengers, and we could, perhaps should, have made the most of the others poor form to put some daylight between us and them

We've also not played very well and struggled to score goals which, as we've seen in the recent past, is not good for long term success

Your stats would have more credibility if they weren't so selective.

How about 'Doyle 2 x 90 minutes = 2 x Nil-Nil'? Or '1 = goals scored by Doyle in his last 585 minutes of football', or '2 = goals scored by Doyle in his last 1,154 minutes of football'.

They look poor in isolation, but the bigger picture is that Doyle is generally our biggest goal threat, and has 17 league goals this season. As for Lita, I would argue his best two Reading performances of the season have been in our last two games, and certainly against Preston, he was our best attacker. So as I said above, you can make yourself look rather stupid criticising Lita after yesterday's performance.
