The rest of the season?

by Snowball » 11 Mar 2010 11:03

I realise it could all go pop in the next week, but if we can beat
a very ordinary Bristol City and the Warnock-inspired QPR, where might
we be? I have a feeling we can win at Cardiff, and that makes 8 winnable games
taking us to 65 points by the end of the season

Question is can we get points at Boro, Leicester, Ipswich?
Can we manage to beat WBA and/or Newcastle at the MadStad.

To have the slimmest chance of the P/Os we probably have to win our next two games
and beating QPR might be tougher than expected, but after those two, if we can win the
eight games bolded and get a point at Leicester and Boro (or better still, win) then...

H Bristol City
H QPR

A Middlesbrough
A Leicester City
H WBA

April

A Ipswich Town
H Coventry City
A Cardiff City

H Newcastle
H Peterborough
A Scunthorpe
A Watford

May
H Preston

I'm hoping we keep winning till we're mathematically safe, but then drop enough points to fail to reach the playoffs. I don't want us getting the chance to beat Derby's Premier League points record next season.

Let's have a pitch at the playoffs next season - assuming we keep hold of the starlets.

This league is terrible, terrible.

With the exception of Newcastle at St James any team is beatable. I just got a feeling.

We as fans owe JM so much for having the balls to make a decision most were opposed to.

Momentum and confidence are key here, and we have both in buckets at the moment; the downside is fitness - as has been said beofre, we are in a period of a lot of games in a short space of time without a massive sqaud to cope with it (ironically, Long having to sit through 4 games has rested him and he has looked very sharp against Villa and again last night - hopefully Jobi's ban will have the same effect on him!).

I'm still looking down rather than up, but we are as close to the relegation places as we are to 11th at the moment AND with games in hand over everyone, so who knows? Still a very, very long shot though............just keep chanting BMcD's mantra "the next game is the biggest cos its the next game...."

It's actually turning into a sensational decision. Luck or judgment? Quite frankly, as Barry Davies once said, who cares?

Snowball To have the slimmest chance of the P/Os
I'd settle for avoiding relegation as soon as possible and then gearing up for a much improved 2010/11 season with the target then being to push for the playoffs.

Good gracious, a sensible comment. You'll never get anywhere on HNA by making comments like that. :)

You have to say that Plymouth and Peterboro are probably both down so only 1 space to fill.

My bet Scunny or Wed

For us, 4 more wins and we're safe. That's all I want this Season.

Next Season... 107 pts and 101 goals please.

Bit of both. No one could have predicted that BM would take to management at all, let alone been such a success in the short term.

I said at the time sacking took balls and JM was admitting the mistake he had made in appointing Rodgers in the 1st place.

'greed, forget the playoffs; let's just be pleased to see us out of relegation, winning a few games and scoring loads of goals.

Why do people feel it necessary to want to be involved in a promotion push just because we've won a few games recently?

We aren't anywhere near good enough to go up and it be a positive event. I certainly have no desire to just make up the numbers in the play offs.

Can we not just be satisfied with a push out of danger and a good run of form? SO we can then build on that for next season with good signings. THEN look at a promotion push when it might actually be beneficial to us?

You have no choice where we end up.
So it's the same as it is every season.
I want to win as many games as we can, same as the Club, same as most fans I'd guess.
